Thankyou Brother for this talk. Balance as a householder with two small children has been the most difficult challenge of my life. Ashamed is a feeling that comes when days fall short of good spiritual routine. Because I feel ashamed to tell this publicly it prompts me to tell it so. As a long time devotee since I was a kid i feel i should be more advanced and rooted in my path and yet having a family in my 40's has challenged my once good spiritual habits which formerly were many weekly long meditations. Work work and yet more work. Nonstop attendance to small children throughout the night and day lends little time for eating, sleep, exercise for the body or partaking in simple pleasures. Fighting off exhaustion at night to meditate is hard. So when there is time...twenty minutes, an hour here or there the temptation is to look at my phone on Instagram or Facebook or read the news to " relax", or to take a cup tea and eat something. I often find that in giving in to these seemingly harmless activities leaves no time for meaningful quests. The rationalization to relax for just a few minutes turns into 30 minutes of being a couch potato. And then the baby wakes up. Day after day. I see as a full time mom how the spiritual life is a razors edge...and recall Gyanamatas words of how even the simple pleasures were taken from her...and so it must always be God first. Before listening to your talk my husband and i split the day up last Sunday to meditate " take turns". Although distractions came up needing mom i had several windows of periods of meditation and aloneness. The inherit balance that meditation brings is true. It gave such equilibrium to my heart and mind. The fickleness and irritations of the days following were like water off a ducks back. I could with more resilience handle the day to day struggles. The Italian saint who spent less times with his brothers and practiced the presence was godly. And so shouldn't I? These applications are also within my reach despite the many activities of my day. Washing floors, laundry, food preparation, child management is not rocket science and the mind quietly can hum the name of God. Realizing the message of Lahiri Mahsayas that i can be a house holder and know God is what I hold on to. As an experiment i will take Facebook and Instagram off my phone for week and read the lessons which are also on my phone instead and see how life becomes. By simplifying my life I will be astounded by how uncomplicated and happy it will become!

In reference to the opening chants in this and other videos, I don't know how the Cosmic Chants aren't recognized universally as classics of devotional music! They were divinely inspired and are without compare!

I think, aside from (usually Hindu)Indians, and possibly Italians, most societies don't encourage devotion to God, many people in my county don't even 'believe' in God, let alone want to cultivate love for Him. Yogananda's chants express those sublime feelings perfectly, society en mass, however is simply not ready for them.
