I don’t understand , is the fan getting its power from the PS5? Or does the fan run on its own power supply from the wall outlet?

YO. If you have the dualsense edge controllers - this stand can’t fit them because of the FN buttons 😅 it also made my ps5 HOTTER. Raised it 5 degrees

I guess this was best for the air chamber im the bottom, maximise air flow... still could have been sleeker in some way or black might look better even. I have seen nicer much slimmer designs... buy they probably do nothing for cooling even with the fan they have
