The following practical strategies are very helpful and should be part of courses: 1.) Take just 1:30 minutes of a discussion between two people that you recorded for example on TV (in a talk-show). Then write down exactly what the participants of the discussion said, with all "ahm", "errr", repetitions, with all the `mistakes` and sounds being part of their speech. Make a real "transcription". You can even use your own symbols to transcribe the melody of what they said. 2.) Record a discussion between you and some other people. Then, take 1:30 minutes of your own contributions and make one more transcription of it. Do this a few times, and your life has changed significantly concerning your ability to listen.
