The pronunciation that I was reffering to still is a 'British thing', because as I said some people here in the UK do refer to it with an 'O' rather than an 'A'. Which was my original point.

Actually, England more likely comes from a tribe's name, the Anglii, who migrated from Germany and shared their language with the native Englishmen, who started combining their native tongue with the Anglii's language in order to communicate better amongst themselves and their new German neighbors. It's really still speculation which German language inspired English, but English was without a doubt FORMED in England from both German and their prior language.

It's generally accepted as a word, even if it's grammatically incorrect. I believe it's because, spoken aloud, "stupidest" just sounds better than "most stupid." However, "more stupid" sounds much better spoken aloud than "stupider."
