I recently drove a tesla for 2 months for work. I live in Michigan and it was the worst thing I have experienced. I love the concept but when it regularly gets below freezing the battery doesn't hold charge. You have to charge it at least 2 times a day. Then on top of it, during a wet snow, or an ice storm, getting into the car is a nightmare! The handles are flush on the door and freeze over so its hard to get into. Then the windows won't go down bc they are frozen and so you can't open and close the door bc you risk breaking the window. Preconditioning the car when it is -2F out is a pointless. It takes forever for the battery to warm up. Now the chargers! We had a very cold storm hit during Christmas with high winds. The winds were so high that they blew the charger cords out of their housings and into the snow drifts. You can't charge bc the cords were packed with snow. Out of 10 super charger spots, multiple teslas had to cycle through the 2 that were work. So that's multiple people waiting to get onto 2 chargers. So if you got there at the same time someone got on the charger you could be waiting 2 hours to then get to the charger. THEN you have to wait another 1 and half hours to 2 hours for your car to charge and the amount of people who would cut in line, just made it worse. I think the tesla is great if you live in warmer climates but its not made for areas that experience below freezing temperatures. One of the #1 problems with a regular gas car during the winter is that the batteries don't hold charge. AAA is called often to help people charge or change their cars batteries. So who thought it was a brilliant idea to make a car that is just a huge battery and try sell them to a northern climate. Sorry for the "rant" but it was one of the few times that y'all talked or asked about something that I could talk to.

Interesting to hear Thomas the Tank Engine brought up here, I'm actually a part of that fandom. I don't get involved or really keep up with the twitter drama tho, it can definitely get chaotic out there. But there's a hell of a lot of amazing things the fandom has made as well. Most elements of the franchise are incredibly layered too, from in-universe background lore and multiple canons to production history and aspects of real railways that have served as inspiration for all this. There's lots to study, discuss and try to recreate.

haha, i think his is an interesting take. it's hard to take materialistic atheism seriously though, because if the materialistic atheist is right, how can he then say it's better or worse to believe in one thing or another? people like lewis love to say "oh religion is a tool" "kids get brainwashed" "you do you, but obviously my perspective is more intelligent", when really you have to have just as much faith to hold to materialistic atheism, except there's no foundation for it. why believe there's no metaphysical reality? what's the difference between believing truth or fiction at that point? why get incensed if there's a murder or not, pain or pleasure, things that you personally find tasteful or distasteful? lewis and those like him are driven by emotion just the same as the most devout scientologist, he fights for a cause which he himself is claiming to be just as worthless as every other one, paradoxically becoming exactly what he claims to dislike. i think anyone that claims to hate the concept of some bigger metaphysical truth and dies on that hill is being terribly inconsistent with their so-called beliefs. i get disliking organized religion, there's no church in the world that's really helping people; at the same time, there are certainly individuals that practice what they preach, who are not hypocritical, who really do love people for who they are. true religion is a wonderful thing, and there is absolutely no reason not to pursue a deeper understanding of our metaphysical place in the universe. any other stance is simply ridiculous

I do believe in ghosts because I've had experiences before, but I am an atheist. I don't really see a thin line between being religious and believing in ghosts. A lot of life was exactly the same 100 years ago, and for a long time before that. People still went about their lives in much the same manner; went to work, went to the pub in the evenings, played football on the weekends, fell in love, got married and had kids, rowed with their neighbours, etc. The only thing that's different now is the small details; the broad stuff is just as it was, and probably always will be. People themselves certainly haven't changed so why would the lives they lead have done so?

I agree with Pyrion and have noticed it in the past. Sips is a boomer and often exudes toxic male chauvinism and misogynies. I wouldn't say he 'hates' women. But he's totally been 'sports ball dude brained' in his general positions. It's a shame really. I would argue this is one of the reasons he's as popular among young men today as he is. Something to chew on there.

i think thats a bit of a reach, you are going too far for no real benefit. sips hams up a character trope he is familiar with and plays it out for its humor. its odd to call it 'a shame'. i dont believe it is toxic in the sense that it is harmful, as its not. its lighthearted, humorous, and relatable as it is familiar- not because young men believe in it, but because they know of that thinking, as does sips. i have always believed that taking such a thing at face value is wilfully ignorant.
