The coolest thing is watching the difference between pyrion and tom when they receive their cards. Tom looks at them and considers his actions, or what their cards might be worth and what it all means. Pyrion peeks for a second but is actually mostly watching Tom.

Lewis presuming Pyrion will always be betting the same way... "he'll always put down 500 if he has something". Both playing that way and that presumption are how you lose games.

But that is literally what happened. We have no way of knowing what could have happened, but anytime Pyrion had a good hand he would always bet 500. Reading players bets is the #1 way of reading people in poker. Reading players by "tells" is complete nonsense.

Mckeehan (you know the guy who won the 2015 wsop with ease) was really good at reading people via tells. Daniel Negreanu has put a focus on the psychology of the game as well. Reading players by tells is not complete nonsense, but yes I agree bets are the best way to figure out what someone has.

+Joo Jingle Which is something that is hard to actually prove. I think that they might do some tell reading, but I also find it pretty hard to believe that players at the top level really have tells. Most generally are just not going to have any tells. I feel like it is more likely they just say shit to help mystify themselves and make other players nervous, especially coming from a guy like Joe.

its impossible to not have tells, even on something as simple as bringing your hands out from behind your back with an item in one of them you can tell exactly which hand they have the item in every time. tells are subconscious, and you'll never be able to control them all

I do love Pyrion and Tom's commentary, it's the best! I think it was the right play, knowing Pyrion would be better at slowly taking away my chips in the long game? Pyrion goes all in when I'm 1 card off of flush just from the flop... THAT would be my biggest chance to steal victory. Although I've only learned poker through these videos, so I'm probably wrong.

Yeah so Pyrion raised 500 pre flop, something he'd only been doing with strong hands, so when he did it in the last hand Tom might think he has hit the J, he then knows he has hit the J with Pyrion's all in call after the flop, at that point Tom knows he is beat unless he hits his flush, approx 20% chance, so he has gone all in on 20% chance which isn't the best move tbh, fortunately he got lucky and it paid off for him though

It is arguable tom should have called or raised the bet from pyrion on the 6 turn. He could have kept the pot controlled at a reasonable point for having 3rd pair with a call, or he could've made a very strong looking raise. Calling or raising creates a win-win scenario. That's so long as pyrion doesn't shove all in, but he was unlikely to do that. If you check the flop you are slow-playing someone. If you are slow playing you don't want to shove. Because Lewis acknowledged that I think he knows more than you give him credit for.
