I've been seeing a lot of people complaining about this game being a Phasmophobia rip off in the comments and I'd like to add my two cents. Looking at the steam page it seems like the vast majority of people that have given it a proper go find it quite enjoyable and with a fair bit of depth for something so early access. I think people are being a bit hasty to throw out words like shovel-ware when it seems to me like a team that were inspired by Phasmo to make their own take on the genre, not one that wanted to make a quick buck and disappear. Just because it is obviously similar to something that already exists doesn't automatically make it bad or unworthy of a chance. Just look at the comparisons between Overcooked and Plate Up! after all, they're both top down cooperative cooking games but there's room for both to exist because they both take their own approach to the formula. Phasmo is all about finding info and getting out (and I've heard people saying the game's been going downhill, but I don't know anything about that), whereas this is about gathering similar info then using it to banish/destroy the ghosts, having to perform different actions to try and stop them instead of just checking off a list. I think there's definitely room for competition in the ghost hunting genre.

At this point, while Phasmo's definitely one of the more well known co-op ghost hunting games, there's definitely a subgenre that has grown there.

What take have they made? This is the exact same gameplay as Phasmophobia, there's nothing original except for some hideous player models and terrible run animations.

@@RobbieEl Actually doing something about the ghost after learning what it is for one thing. Ultimately it's going to be up to each person whether they like something or not but considering (based on the small research session I had about the game) the two person dev team I think they've got a pretty solid foundation here. Also there are apparently 6 characters, just none of the guys ended up changing characters for the video.

I do feel like there are too many games trying to emulate phasmophobia and simply adding their own touch, without adding too much else. They should look towards IRL ghost hunting for further inspiration rather than a well established game. Not saying this game or others are bad games, just that they are nothing new. This is more like competition to games that emulate phasmo rather than phasmo itself.

The full months of the past were fun, but you could see how burned out they got trying to stretch all that content out. The two weeks of last year, by contrast, were jam packed with good stuff and you had way more of the Yogs lively and involved in all kinds of things. As a model, I think it worked a lot better.
