I had a very fun convo with a philosophy major about whether vore was vegan because a key principle of why vegans dont eat meat is that animals cant consent more-so than being animal products. The conclusion was that vore is vegan, but not vegetarian.

Bacteria aren't in the same domain as animals, which puts them further from animals than plants and fungi which are much more closely related to animals and generally considered vegan. Regardless, I think I can speak for most of us and say vegans aren't typically concerned with the ethics of consuming monocellular life or even microscopic multicellular life tbh; it's really about the big life with what we could consider some semblance of feelings and ability to demonstrate suffering.
