When criticizing Ravs for thinking the Red Baron was a Nazi, consider that he thought the Roman Empire might have been kickin' in 1750 AD.

That isn't as bad in my opinion given that the Eastern Roman Empire, the Byzantines only fell in the 15th century, so actually closer than you might expect to the 18th century, you mentioned. On top of that, WW1 and WW2 are much closer to today, so they should be better known, especially because they're usually such big topics in history. Not to mention, he's from one of the nations involved, so I imagine it's thought even more so.

@azrael_hypo Well, the Red Baron is an important figure in the story of WW1 for Germany being a fighter ace, and the fact that aircraft is only newly coming into a military role makes that something significant. Not to mention, you'll absolutely be able to spot the difference between a WW1 and a WW2 plane if you've had education on those topics because you'll be able to tell a bi/triplane apart from the later much more recognisable plane structures/designs of the second world war. I wouldn't necessarily expect them to know the makes/models such as a zero, supermarine spitfire, etc...

"if you've had education on those topics" hey uh wtf? i don't know anyone who *has* had education on the topics of planes in WW1 and 2. we learned that different types of tanks and planes were involved, but we didn't take a break from learning about the causes of WW1 or Weimar Germany and the rise and fall of the Nazi party or the Blitz or the Dresden bombings or how medicine advanced through WW1 to go "and now let's compare and contrast their planes and learn about a German WW1 war fighter pilot" because that shit is trivial in comparison. that there were planes is the important part. how many wings they had or the name of one pilot isn't. take an interest in it if you want, but don't be so judgemental when other people don't share your interests

I definitely feel like they should do a triathlon (drive, fly, swim), and each team needs to build at least 2/3 of their team, but can choose to do all 3 instead. They have to switch out between the stages, and each lap has a few sections of each type

They.. they do know that red tri-plane is WWI, right? No affiliation with anything that happened in Germany during WWII. That model is based on the plane Baron von Richthofen flew and he was very famously known as The Red Baron. On either both side, he was a very respected war hero.
