Yes I would pay quite a bit for this delicious Japanese whisky! I have accepted the prices of scotch. They are insane but it's sadly the trend. The 18 is spectacular! For me it's how much I enjoy a scotch! It can be a 10 yo scotch at 45% ABV but so lovely that it's worth the cost. Usually I spend much less. This is a special treat! There is so much available that's in this price range - much better scotch - it's not a whisky that I would ever buy frequently - at this high price. Terrific thoughts Gert!

I'm a bit confused: are you using 'scotch' to refer to whisky that was not made in Scotland? If so: please stop! Or I'll have to call Canadian people 'yanks'...

Good to hear your notes on that one, but, indeed, honestly though being a fan of good Japanese whiskies myself, and of Yoichi in particular, considering what I also already have, I refuse to pay 150 € (& even over 110) for this, though I'll be happy to try it in a show if I can approach the stand, which was not possible last year at W.L.P. without long queuing before it, which I got bored of too (it was even worse for Suntory stand where a barrier (museum like) was even judged necessary & again it was ridiculous given the 4 grands prices of their 4 new Yamazaki & Hakushu expressions...Getting back to Nikka's distilleries, the expression I'm the most excited about its come back is my favorite ever of the core range, the Yoichi 12 yo (I think I did sent you a sample of it a while ago), but something tells me that they'll probably ask even more for it (200 ?). Kanpaï !

@@GregsWhiskyGuide I think that there are so many better whisky out there for much cheaper. But we are sheep and we buy. Most people that buy this is hoping to sell later. Cheers mate. Yes you did send me a sample of the 12. Great stuff

The old Nikka Yoichi 10 that I had in 2005 was stunning while the more recent 10 that I had last year at the distillery bar was a bit disappointing. I'll have to try it again. Having said that the NAS Yoichi is worth trying, though still spricy, it is the better value in my opinion.

@@AlinJapan Things change over time that’s for sure. Water quality is not the same, methods change a bit, casks change. All these factors come in play in my opinion. I'll stick with NAS Yoichi, which I picked up a couple bottles on sale for $60 USD last week as well as the Nikka Miyagikyo.

Thanks for the review Gert I picked this up earlier this year in Alberta for $200 Canadian. I haven’t opened it yet but just opened a bottle of Nas Yoichi I love it especially at$68. But I’ve only seen the 10 for sale once I heard that they will release more but we will see Cheers

@@WhiskyLoversSociety I tried it at a whiskey festival back in January. It was very nice but I drank a lot of whiskey that night so everything was nice lol wait a minute I’m mistaken. I tried the Nikka grain but I will let you know what I think of it when I open it

Great review as always - even the Japan the demand exceeds the supply, and its easily Yen 40,000 (Euro 240) a bottle - inevitably everyone judges the prices in their reviews - but it always distracts from the experience and purity of the spirit, but its something ng hard to avoid. But price reflects demand - and this shows the underlying urge to taste something good, or maybe is it the high price that invites intrigue!? Nonetheless, a fine spirit produced in a pure way, but sad to hear about possible colour and chill filtering.
