When you hear her heart speed up it means its an enemy, in the first game the willow wisp didn't cause the heart to beat but in this one it did. That means it was a trap

This game preys on your fight or flight response, your heart starts beating and you panic trying to find the threat, once you do, its either a false scare or something is already about to kill you and the limited saves make you even more scared to have to die and go all the way back

_Snip snip, snip snip_ Mr Kotowari always liked playing rock, paper, scissors in his youth... The ghosts are good in this. The doppelgangers & mirror were interesting in the library part. I wonder if when Haru said she was moving, if something happened to her & that's why Yui killed herself. So now, they are both searching for each other in the afterlife, not recognizing that they are both ghosts. Or they really are both alive but that little town is just lousy with yokai & spirits that scare them so much they can't find each other easily.

+NaturalFlirtGamer Ah, but Mr. Kotowari can never win against an opponent with the other two of the Three Great Weapons: Paper -plane- and -pebble- Rock! I suspect the doppelgangers were linked to the flashlight as well. They seemed to pop up directly ahead quite often. If neither is allowed to remember the cause of death as spirits, then perhaps. Neither theory explains Yui getting slung around town, unfortunately. Definitely too many ghosts, though. Did I miss a memo or something? Is it the Centennial Creepy Crawlies Parade? Would explain the fireworks, actually...

"Kotowari" in Japanese means to deny something, or to cut/sever. Seems pretty relevant, considering how it looks and how it "cut" Yui.

mirusasaki I can't tell if it's like that or not though, will have to see if it appears again later on. My guess is that it will, because of the "Mr." thing going on. The previous game had Mr. Yomawari which was pretty promiment in the first game, so I expect Mr. Kotowari to do so as well.

This game has to expect you to have beaten the first one, the difficulty is definitely higher this time around. More aggressive ghosts, more variety among them, the town seems bigger with seemingly more side ghosts to hunt down. Story-wise, I feel like Yui has to be the one who is dead. Every time we're leaving her perspective, she's being caught by the ghosts. Either this is an intense red herring or she's already gone.

So far I like the game design in general. The difference in the yokai art from this and the first one tells a lot. The first one had rough designs as supposed to be through the "eye(s)" of a small child. Yokais are really aggressive on this one even if they're just there to annoy the player and I love how they pull off the jump scares at the right time.

There is an urban legend I heard once about a ghost that chooses victims based on them picking up a scrap of paper that the last victim dropped. There is also one about a scissor man. I wonder if they combined them? I am so excited to play this game, I just wish they had a bestiary for all the yoma.

This game series looks nice but feels like it plays really damn barebones. Practically no item management, no extras to check out, no files to archive and read... Really, if it weren't for the youkai, I'd be tempted to call this a walking sim.

You know, I'm kind of curious as to why they keep on only going out at night. Is it a children's thing? Like, the night kinda makes the town intersect with the spirit place. But if it's a children's thing, Yui's sister understand what's going on and gives the flashlight to Yui in the first game, does that mean the spirits can only harm children? It seems the spirits can harm adults too, or atleast teens as Sis was kidnaped by a few. They seem to only go out when fate forces their hands (Sis and Yui going missing) or when they decide to start helping spirits (Protag in the first post-game)
