Hi Zach, I have metatarsalgia and are looking for the tennis shoe with the max amount of cushoning to use when I slowly start playing again. Do you have any ideas/ suggestion, currently using the V12 1080 New Balance, which are helping for walking, but my newly bought Wilson tennis shoes are just too hard to start back up with! Would greatly appreciate your thoughts!

The Yonex Eclipsion 4 surprised me, and it's now my preferred pickleball shoe. My PB shoe adventure began with the Adidas Adizero Ubersonic 4. I liked the light feel, but even with orthotics, I would feel ball-of-foot pain after a few matches. Next was the Nike Zoom GP Turbo. I still love 'em, but they're heavy and hot. My third and least favorite was the Asics Court FF 2. They're like going from a sports car to an SUV. I felt taller and higher, which is a weird feeling. I felt almost uncoordinated in these shoes. They are incredibly light, but I also couldn't get over the uppers popping sound every time I took a step. Now I'm all in with the Yonex Eclipsion 4. Break-in time felt like an hour tops. They're the perfect mashup of the GP Turbo and Ubersonic 4. Light, cushioned, stable, and fast. Thanks for the review! I would not have bought these since I wasn't familiar with Yonex shoes.

Everyone is different because the Asics FF2 are now my main Pickleball/tennis shoe. No pain of any kind and I get awesome mobility. Only issue was that they run warm to hot.

Thanks Zach! I bought the Eclipsion 3 last time round based on your review, and was excited to hear what you had to say about the new Eclipsion 4. In fact, I went out to buy a pair a week ago and felt that it was immediately more comfortable than the 3s in terms of wider fit and more pliable materials in the upper. The 3s tend to kink a bit when you bend your foot at the toe. So all in all, it is exactly how you described it. Lighter, more comfortable and immediately impressive without the need for breaking in. An all-around upgrade to the previous iteration. I really hope Yonex brings the blue/black colourway to Southeast Asia because the Eclipsion 4s that come only in white tend to stain easily, and the toe guard will pick up the colour of the court easily when dragging the toe.

My roger pro is finally unusable and I’ve bought 3 different pairs to play with: Asics Solution Speed FF2, Yonex Eclipsion4, Nike Turbo GP, all based on your reviews, unfortunately none of your affiliate sites ship to my location and I couldn’t find Lotto and Diadora near me. I bought all the shoes in my normal size. Interestingly my half size down Roger Pro felt long enough and slightly wide to me, but the Turbo GP ended up being so narrow I literally couldn’t put my feet in and need to exchange for a larger size. I have played with the Yonex today for the first time. At first it felt too narrow and the toe bix didn’t seem tall enough for me, but luckily it ended up fine after a while. It was stable and…”comfortable”? It’s comfortable not in a plush way, but that it muted everything out and I didn’t feel like I was stepping on anything. One thing I notice is as that it felt less nimble than the Roger Pro to me. I’m not sure if objectively there’s any performance difference, but I was feeling the heels more than usual and less “on my toes”, and so was not having the “grip the ground and twist to accelerate” sensation. Seemingly contradictory to the above though, I think each of my steps feels more distinct now.
@donkeybro6368
@donkeybro6368 Жыл бұрын
TLDR: A bit narrow, feel less explosive, not “comfortable” but helps remove discomforts and impacts, steps feel solid and stable, not slow.

@@bournejason66 they’re really agile. Great response and feel. Wide enough toe box for comfort too. Very minimal cushioning so definitely a game day shoe. I’m very light and run a lot; it died after 40 weeks of 4-8 hours tennis? Couldn’t remember. Again, I’m very light so I imagine someone heavier would need more cushion. Major downside is that you must be in form as the shoes give you nothing free. If your footwork is sloppy you’d play horribly.

Zach, would've like to hear your thoughts on the lateral stability of these vs the 3s given the 4s seem to have done away with the heel shank. Also, was telling to see Ruud playing with what appeared to be the 3s and NOT the 4s in the French. You could tell by the sole of his shoes he was NOT wearing the 4s. I'm not yet sold on the 4s and are instead trying the Lotto Raptor Hyperpulse 100 as you recommend. Thanks for sharing your thoughts once again.

Between Eclipsing 3 and 4 which would be better? Is the 4 worth the extra $26 dollars? I don't like how yonex is heading for the tennis shoes. The bottom part used be be separated from the middle and use hard plastic and carbon fiber to connect them which creates a stiffer support for hardcore tennis. Now, the shoes are becoming softer which for me the performance is getting worse. Is the 4 too flat? I need to run up and volley. Is the forwarding speed slow due to the flat design?

I purchased a pair of the Eclipsion 4s based on this review. I am always looking for a good stable speed shoe with cushioning. This shoe seemed to be in this category along with the Diadora B.Icon, New Balance 996 v5, Asics Court FF3, and the Lotto Raptor 100 - all of which are excellent shoes with good comfort and on court performance IMO. Unfortunately, in wearing the Eclipsion 4 around the house for an hour, my feet began to hurt - they felt fairly firm under foot. I tried some Powerstep inserts with them to see if that would help and it did not. I am wondering if the shoe's lack of cushioning has anything to do with the graphite shank in the midsole. This is the second shoe I have tried with a graphite plate in the design that seemed top lack proper cushion. I understand why these plates have been popular in improving performance in a "straight line" sport like running, but do you think that they are well suited to a sport like tennis, Zach?

Mark, what tennis shoes do you like?
@markmoore5981
@markmoore5981 Жыл бұрын
@@InfinityProTeam Personally, right now, my favorite shoe is the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour - it does everything well. It is stable, quick, cushioned, well-ventilated, and durable. My next favorite would be the Diadora B.Icon 2 - another great shoe that checks all the boxes. Honestly, bells and whistles aside, the best two lines of tennis shoes for proper cushioning and playability IMO are clearly Diadora, Lotto, Mizuno, and Babolat. I have no idea what Nike and Adidas are doing these days but all their shoes are garbage and the ones they had that were well-designed (i.e. Adidas Solecourt Boost and Nike GP Turbo) they discontinue after a couple years. Asics shoes seem to get worse every year, as well. It feels like the larger athletic shoe companies are putting all their time and money into the design of basketball shoes these days and ignoring the tennis market - except for smaller tennis focused companies like Babolat, Diadora, Lotto, and K-Swiss.
