Eating humble pie here, i always felt CTC was overrated, a one trick pony, lacking racket skills required at the top level and tactical know how or another gear in the heat of battle, but fair do’s to him he played really well today.

@@emersonlee9968 Yes, he lacks the variety or deception in his kit bag, although he’s hit a purple patch in the last couple of tournaments, especially at the net, his game is very one dimensional and power based. As for his age, it’s got nothing to do with his underachievement, the CTC of 2023 is no different to a younger 2015 CTC, although Victoria is doing a good job cheerleading from the sidelines, I feel he could do with a good coach presence in his corner, he doesn’t seem to have the ability to problem solve, he is clueless,great players like Chen Long and G.O.A.T Lin Dan have the ability to work things out and change things during the game albeit with the help of coach during and game changeover, don’t get me wrong CTC is still a very good player, just not crème de la crème.

It's quite obvious that VA is not at his best. Many errors on attack, and slow responses in defense. However, taking nothing away from Chou. He was brilliant today.

Not so big, he is gone now, he won't have the mental strength to cope with defeats, as in the past. Signs were evident when he nearly lost to Popov a few weeks ago and broke a racket in anger. He had a good run, now it's over.

Chou was composed, confident, and relax. An easy win, maybe not and both had given the best. VA was a bit frustrating throughout the whole game, otherwise it could be a good fight. Hats off to Chou, he came with determination 👍

​@@GaryM67-71 He was always like that. I remember him playing in 2011 against Taufik, LCW and LD, when he was too young. Even then it was clearly that he is a very emotional player who can play well only with good mental attidude. When things are good for him he's playing magnificient. But once he is behind by points - he's totally lost, he can't focus. That's why Momoto has beat him so many times and so easily, their head-to-head is like 20-5 in Momoto's fav. But the destiny is please with him it seems, Momoto was engaged in a car accident right before OG in Tokyo, was elliminated at early stages and didn't counter Ax then. And ever since 2020 Momoto was never the same unfortunately (so badmintion world has lost the newest LCW versus LD rivalry). So basically Ax has nothing to prove since he's a OG champ, but still he's letting his mentallity to take over his skills, and this is frustrating.

Viktor played LCW and CL after their peaks, as their careers were winding down - So it's not correct to say that they were at their peak. Although they never played Viktor 2022, they still played Viktor 2016/17 which isn't that far off. Viktor 2022 would still regularly lose 80% of the time against 2007-2013 LCW and 2010-2015 CL.

Wrong commentary, when Viktor started winning slightly more consistent in 2017, LD and Lcw were already a year or two years away from retirement, and no way either of them were still in their prime like Viktor is right now. Basically the old heads won from experience and technical skills in their meetings against Viktor. Chen Long on the other hand who’s 6 years younger than Lcw and LD or 5 years older than Viktor perhaps can be called to be at his peak. Momota prior to his accident is probably the one Viktor always find difficulty besting, these days momota is just a shadow of his former self.
