The sign of a great teacher is someone who takes a simple concept, a foundational exercise, and presents it in a way that is clear, relevant and of value to players at all levels. Excellent tutorial. :)

Great lesson. One suggestion: be way more specific with your fingers. When you spread your fingers over the fretboard like that, it’s virtually impossible - especially for beginners - to see which string and which fret you push down.

Thanks Yonit for this lesson 🙏 I also see it as a way to master/memorize a bass neck: starting with this simple shape, slowly and then as you do in your line, move along the neck with the same notes. Thank you again.

Great tutorial idea, very engaging style, and nice bass tone. The only downsides about this tutorial is the way your fingers are actually obscuring what you are doing from a visual perspective. It's worth using the 'wrong' fingers for demonstration, like the index finger just to show the note with all other fingers out of the way. The captions don't reinforce or provide an alternate explanation of the action either, though what they do say is useful. I'm mainly a guitar player so I genuinely got something out of this vid, thanks!

This is so fun to watch. As an absolute beginner I think I need a first three steps though. Which videos might show me the first little steps I need to start moving? Things that I’m aware of (but I know I don’t know enough to know what I need) -“Plucking” a string - fingers on the frets (tips and tricks) - damping at the end of a note - timing ( I think you have a lot of references to timing ) I have been watching a few of your videos and I enjoy the funky groove you bring to the material you share. I’m hoping some of it will rub off on me 😉

You should do a lesson on the Nashville Number System and the three different fingering positions. I think that’ll help your “students” to understand, and quickly learn the groove pattern that you’re teaching. It’s kinda like when you play the blues,…and a lot of times the root notes, as you know,…are 1, 4, 5, which is the pattern that most people are familiar with. The different finger positions would allow them to play the same groove, but within the three patterns on the neck. Love what you’re doing,…just thought I’d throw those ideas out there.

This was great I’ve been playing a year and shapes like this really help cause I tend to stick using the regular major scale shape so If I was playing root D on the A string I’d use the flat 7th on the g string which doesn’t sound as good Really need to learn more shapes etc like this!

Great video, I have a hard time controlling the urge to play lots of notes, it's always nice to learn from the pros. I'd recommend turning up the highs on bass or something (sorry, I don't know the terminology), just for accessibility's sake. I could only hear your playing on headphones, my TV and my phone couldn't handle such low frequencies.
