This is a great funk lesson. Not too complicated but still challenging, if your pinky can stand the heat and sounds funky. Gonna try moving this up & down the fret board. Thanks!

Do you still teach private lessons? I just bought a kinda expensive bass (for me) and I should probably learn to play it. 😁

Gil! I think two very important things could help - first, warm up and stretch your hands and shoulders before every time you play. Second, don’t jump ahead to practice the original tempo of the track. Slow it down to the point of control and slowly pick it up so you build muscle for it (a great tool for it is the slow down option in the KZbin setting for example) Hope it helps!

My permanent doubt remains: start with or without the own instrument. How to find the exact time to buy it, and where. How to “evaluate” the instrument without knowing to play a single note. Million dollar questions I still have no answer.
@1pensar2 жыл бұрын
Just buy an affordable starter instrument and practice it. You will learn about the instrument the more you play it and will gain the knowledge you seek after hours of practice.
@Prentach2 жыл бұрын
Probably buy a starter instrument from a known brand around 250-300USD then sell it when you know what you want. You need the instrument to learn and starter prices already give you a decent one !
@randomanton2 жыл бұрын
do not think. only do
@YonitSpiegelman2 жыл бұрын
I agree with all these great suggestions, and would add that you should find an instrument (at any price that fits your budget) that sparks joy in you. It’s color, and shape and definitely it’s sound - there’s no need to be an expert to simply fall in love with a certain instrument’s sound and feel, just need to trust your instincts.

I started leasing an Ibanez SR300 + Warwick amp for a minimum of 6 months paying a monthly rate and having the option of buying both off (some shops do this). First 3 months were pretty hard on my fingers and ego. After 6 months I loved it, so I kept the bass and upgraded the amp to a Fender Rumble. Next year I did the same with a Roland portable drum kit that I upgraded after 6 months to a better non-portable one. I still play both drums and bass almost every day. I would recommend this option to anybody. If after 6 months you don’t enjoy playing, then give it back and move on. The monthly rates are cheaper than the private classes :)
