You don't need any tonics for that, just roll off the platform, and tap the roll button again in mid air to boost and then jump (also in mid air), the game gives you a small window of time to do that combo tho, you need to keep Laylee for that. With a bit of practice you can time it right for every event.

I did it in my 2nd try, the 5th coin. I had more issues with other obstacles than that. I noticed that the more I panic at doing the combo, the worst the combo ends.
