“We are wordless, we are hypnotized! We are shocked... the audience stood in absolute silence. I cannot believe conducting such a piece without a score was even possible. Such a pity that the composer, my dearest friend Henryk, isn’t here anymore to witness this miracle… "
- The composer Peteris Vasks about Kamdzhalov's performance of Górecki
Internationales Musikfestival Heidelberger Frühling`2015
Soloist: Rinnat Moriah
Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: Yordan Kamdzhalov
Henryk Górecki: 1933 - 2010
First Movement
"My son, chosen and loved,
Let your mother share your wounds
And since, my dear son,
I have always kept you in my heart,
And loyally served you,
Speak to your mother,
make her happy ,
Though, my cherished hope,
you are now leaving me."

Изумительно. Трогательно до глубины души, до сердцевины. Как будто музыка течёт по жилам, сквозь меня. Гениальный дирижёр и исполнение. Нет слов. Низкий поклон.

Maestro Kamdzhalov is beyond doubt a treasured talent for the ages. I am bereft of words to describe the sublime grace of his command of the orchestra and the darkly haunting beauty of the soloist vocal range All on the stage were locked in a moving embrace of musicality and creative expression. God Bless us.

The worst thing that can happen to this Symphony is to make it sound dramatic and pompous. First movement is particulary susceptible to such conducting. This performance is not convincing to me at all, but I take a bow to maestro`s conducting this symphony having it in his heart.

It would be worth deleting the reference to BETH GIBBONS in your introductory notes. Elsewhere Beth 'Portishead' Gibbons does a fine job with Penderecki waving the wand in this magnificent work. The middle portion of 1st mov here is my favourite portion of the work & this is easily one of the best versions. Fine singer & well-oiled conducter push all the correct buttons. PS - And bravo to the performance from Oświęcim (middle mov).
