Whats the point in trying to powerscale swordsmanship? Not only do most of us not practice kendo or anything involving swords, but the mangaka who create these characters likely don’t know sword fighting either. These are essentially “who has the cooler looking sakuga animation moments”, because most of the legwork is done by the animators. And even when animators use real life fighting as a reference its still not actually accurate to what the mangaka thought of themself most of the time; its a creative liberty by the animation studio. But most anime prioritize flashy looking swordsmanship over actually practical swordsmanship anyway.

You don't need to be an expert in martial arts or swordsmanship to guage that one master at swordsmanship who slayed demons all his life isn't going to beat someone who even after all her senses were turned off, was still able to sword fight a difficult opponent and win

But both feats in my opinion seem to rely on the power system as it's not really physically possible to fight without your senses nor is it possible to fight right before you die of old age. The question of without powers at some point becomes impossible to define because the characters skill are sort of merged together with the power system at some point.

Id have him stop at musashi purely based off of the narrative of his story. Plus i dont know anything about Gintama. Yoriichi is styled as an unparalleled prodigy. As a child he easily beat a sword instructor, with not a lick of prior experience. Nobody in his verse could match him. His brother (who was also a genius) got a superhuman buff by becoming a demon, couldnt pose the slightest challenge to him when he was a few breaths away from dying of old age. Muzan was the only being that seemed to worry him, yet he beat him with ease. His style is the foundation/origin of all of the modern styles. He specifically created those derivatives to suit other peoples natural abilites, cuz no one could reach his level.

In Equal stats Erza can't defeat Yoruichi. In DS the swordsman are grounded its just they don't have insane strength, speed and the mark that it. But, Erza is way too fictional in equal stats . She don't get the weapons ability or power of friendship. Just like Bruce lee said "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times". Yoruichi put Erza in her place in equal stats fight.
