York is a stunning city. Imphal barracks, as ex royal signals been there a few times. The Rhino is merely the emblem :) This was the old 1 armoured Division which was based in Verden Northern West Germany and had out posts in 7th(desert rats), 12th and 22nd armoured brigades based around the area. A boring anecdote from the mists of time, my late wife and I were holidaying in York for 4 days and yes, you guessed it, it rained every day. So much so the Ouse flooded up the two levels to the properties alongside. We took a photo of a car under a no parking sign with just the top of it's roof showing above the water. Another photo was of a riverside pub with 4 foot of water flowing through it and ducks swimming in and out of the bar. Happy days ?
