Gone are the days of pj's pet store, the arcade in the old food court, and rainforest cafe. This mall is so boujee nowadays

I live not too far at Dufferin and Finch, and I was actually planning to do a nice long walk to Yorkdale. After seeing this video and the crowds, decided no thanks to going to the mall. Rather take a nice walk at a park or a hike in the woods instead. Thanks for the virtual walk around Yorkdale though.

Anyone else remember when Yorkdale wasn't an upscale mall, had an video game arcade, and the movie theatre was on the other side of the mall and directly accessible from outside? And I'm not even that old.

When Yorkdale first opened it was a very big deal, North America's mall concept was realized, big time . Schools would set up tours for their students to experience this new and exciting retail concept. The shoplifting average went up 680% that afternoon...we were asked to leave. There are a few recognizable points in the mall, great video...cheers mate👍

My, I don't recognize the mall anymore! Along with the Eaton Center, Yorkdale was my favourite Toronto mall to walk around in. When I lived in Sudbury from 1991 to 2000, most years I would make a trip to Toronto to do a little shopping downtown, but would park at Yorkdale and take the subway downtown to hit the Eaton Center, The World's Biggest Bookstore, the Silver Snail comic shop on Queen St West (with a stroll past MuchMusic), and the headshops on Yonge St to pick up new posters and t-shirts. For lunch I would either get a slice of Hawaiian and a can of pop from the Pizza Pizza, or a hot dog and a can of pop from a weenie vendor (either option was $2, I believe). But after a long day of walking and shopping, I'd take a final walk around Yorkdale and have supper at the foodcourt, which at that time was just a short stroll from the subway. From there it was back to the car and the four hour drive back to Suds. I do have a memory of heading to that mall one Friday evening because the kids from the then hit movie "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" were going to be signing autographs in one of the courts in from of one of the anchor stores.

I was thinking you prevented a lot of people from going to the mall to just look around with no intention of buying anything and thus you reduced the spread of the virus

Absolutely no where to sit down and rest. Not very good for the elderly or people with mobility issues. I used to love Yorkdale but unless you make a very high salary and don't have to spend it on astronomically high rents or mortgages in Toronto it is outside of most people's means. Too many high end venues. Interesting video!

Hate this mall. HATEEE! Also hate this area. Spent way to much time in mall in the first half of my life. Then in the 2nd realized they like sell most items dirt cheap at the outlet mall 😳😳😳😳😳! Dont worry Van Cleef ❤, Bvlgari and Cartier probably won't be impacted too much by the customer capacity limits 😅. P.S. in the next videos when you walk past Louis Vuitton please walk a little slower so I can see what's in the window 🙃!
