Brewing on the hopcat

brewing a 40ltr batch of the irish red ale
Recipe is
23ltr 40ltr
pale malt 4.6kg 7.82kg
crystal malt .200g .340g
flaked barley .300g .510g
roasted barley .50g .85g
Mash 1hr 65c
boil 1hr and hops are
Fuggle .50g start of boil .85g
Challenger .33g at turn off .55g
yeast uso5

Boas Filipe. Chegaste a comprar a hopcat? Tenho uma 45L encomenda mas ainda não saiu do armazém e começo a desconfiar um pouco da seriedade da empresa. Os comentários que tenho lido não são muito abonatórios. Qual a tua impressão?

@@RX50 Boas, comprei uma Klarstein 50L. Li que havia muitos probelmas com as pre reservas e demorava imenso, por isso decidi comprar uma Klarstein que era rapida e o equipamento é TODO igual. Aliás, Klarstein, Hopcat, BrewMonk... tudo igual, mesmos controlos, bomba, etc.

@@filipegomespena espero não me vir a arrepender. Encomendei a hopcat mk3 45L no dia 27. Se até terça feira de manhã não for expedida, cancelo a encomenda e peço ao banco para retornar o pagamento. Eles têm fama de má comunicação e mau pós-venda. Ao menos a klarstein é uma marca de eletrodomésticos com algumas garantias. Deixei-me levar por um preço mais baixo e umas ofertas interessantes: espiral, colher metálica, capa térmica, tubo circulação e um fermentador barato.

@@RX50 pelo que tenho lido em grupos do facebook é normal eles demorarem, acho que estavam a aceitar ainda preorder das maquinas. Depois são enviadas por contentor da china para Uk e posteriormente para os clientes. Sei de pessoas que estiveram uns 2/3 meses à espera

Great video, going to give mine a whirl tomorrow, do you after doeing in add the sparge plate and then leave the top off for the overflow pipe? oh and any suggestions on good ways to clean it after? think I am just going give it a good clean and get the pump going

Hi there Richard i always make sure that I run plenty of hot clean water through the pump after cleaning the inside of the hopcat then I turn the whole thing upside down to help drain it out. I can probably answer the whole question better in this weeks hbw by showing you a couple of the things I do if that would be of any help to you .cheers buddy

can i ask you how long it took for your hopcat to arrive after you ordered it mine has been on order for 5 weeks and no delivery date or tracking number

Hi ordered first week of December last year and it arrived the last week of January this year. Regardless of when you order in the month don’t think they ship out until the last week of the following month .hope this helps
