Vango Kela 3 AIR AWNING - VW T6 Camper Van

We have wanted an air awning for such a long time and we found this one used (but looked after) by a couple local to us. They were so lovely and they even gave us a demonstration and lots of extras..

Line the groundsheet up to the back edge of tailgate door then awning sits on top fits great ,also top tip put a spare tent line between both offside drivers front back wheels as a lining up guide so when you drive away and then come back at end of day you just know where to park .

We have the same awning in blue, bought to accommodate friends, so we have an inner tent. Ours has a separate groundsheet which clips in at the corners. This is useful as some camp sites insist on groundsheets being lifted each day to protect the grass. Not tried the awning on our new van yet, a T6, but it fitted the old toyota just fine. Super easy to put up. We don't use it a lot though as we tend to move often and there's usually just the two of us.

We bought one of these last October, they are great but would advise getting the footprint sheet for underneath as it keeps the damp out of the built in ground sheet which does tend to soak through if the ground is fairly damp. You can also get the internal carpet for these which others have recommended. We bought one recently but not had chance to go use it yet. Great vids as usual guys! 👍

I have the Kela V, it’s a great addition for those longer stays. We used the corridor between the van & the awning for the porta potti & a Colapz shower on a site where there were no toilets or showers. Even lent it to a couple to use while we were out during the day! They had forgotten to bring their shower kit. ( you can also use it the dog/ bike ) Great piece of kit. We also have the Vango blow up armchairs to save space in the van.

How do they hold up in rainy, somewhat windy weather? Do I need to put some type of waterproofer or protector on it before first use? Thanks

@@eddiepeele9810 ours withstood the rain no problem - also comes with storm straps for windy weather. However I have seen people throw extra storm straps over the top if needed. It’s a great additional space for longer stays….no need for extra waterproofing, especially if it’s a new one.

Air beams are awesome. Had an air beam tent before getting the van which was great as you can put it up with just one person. Something I saw on another channel (can't find the video, sorry!), they had issues where when they drove the van away, it was a pain to line up again when they got back. To solve it, once the awning was up, they had a brightly coloured strip which they would line up with the tyres on the driver side and then peg down. Then when they drove away and came back, they could just line up with the strip and know the van would be in the right place. Not the easiest thing to describe so hope that makes sense!

Remember to find that link that the youtube police deleted Col, there is a real risk to people having campervans and mobile homes seized by a new law - there is a vote to get it amended. Nice video. I live in the United States and have one of these coming any day now! It was pricey, more so with shipping:) Anyway, I've always wanted one of these and pulled the plug. They are not common here and I plan to use it as a living room/kitchen area hooked to a 4x8 square drop I use for sleeping.

Hook it on to the rail as the first step before you peg it out and inflate it. That way you’ll get the right tension in the porch bit.

Hey do you mean the inflatable ones? If so, they are for the roof to push the inflated sides out to make it more rigid... If not, we dont have solid poles with ours so I have no idea haha!

Hey, it's a short wheel base but the bed is pushed right back to the rear doors making as much room in the living space as possible ! :)
