Yosemite was my backyard for 40 years. It is my favorite place on Earth. I have to the tops of most of the peaks, monoliths and waterfalls you see in Yosemite valley. I have hiked its trails and scaled its peaks most of my life. I am saddened by how crowded and congested it has become. And dumb people who do not give it the respect it deserves end up gettin killed or injured. And Yosemite gets a bad rap as a result. Still, it is my favorite place and it always will be. And I will work to preserve it for posterity.

Tourons. We have them here in our local state parks in WV, ruining the experience for everyone else that visits these places. People that go out of their way to interact with the wildlife with no care how it puts not only themselves in danger, but the animals (because once an animal attacks someone trying to provoke them for a photo op, it’s not the human that gets put down). Or the people going to areas they shouldn’t to get a photo to post on social media and ending up getting hurt. All it does is put more restrictions on park-goers, more areas getting closed off, and it ruins it for everyone else. Not to mention all the littering from how overcrowded things get when the tourons congregate around popular spots during certain holidays or events. I’ve watched park rangers try and get things under the control, but the lack of respect from people visiting these places is honestly just quite sad. No care.

Yosemite is better than any amusement park…and I LOVE amusement parks. Yes, really. And the drive on the 40? Beautiful as well, especially about 30 mins before getting to the Valley, just outside the entrance. If you know, you know. Side note: I haven’t been since 2010 so my memory may be thinking of 30 mins before the entrance instead. Regardless, any who take the 40 into Yosemite knows where I mean.

@@TwoBs I've never heard of the term tourons before, I assume you mean tourist/morons, there are so many examples of tourists devoid of brains on KZbin that it makes you wonder how they manage to navigate life. One of the most stupid incidents that I've come across was a family that got out of their car in a safari park to have a picnic, they were lucky that their kids didn't become one of the snacks.

You are dead wrong about Yosemite being the last home of the Sequoia. There are groves in both Seqouia and Kings Canyon Natl. Parks.

It said the Sierra Nevada was the last home of the Sequoias. Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park are all part of the Sierra Nevada.

Actually in 2024 they needed to protect the Sequoia trees like the General Sherman by using aluminum Mylar to wrap the trunk & some of branches from catching fire. True that the fire is required to open & broadcast the Sequoia seeds pods.

Having hiked a lot in the Sierra, that was my immediate reaction when he said the Sequoias were now limited to an area the size of Cleveland then showed Mariposa Grove. I'm pretty sure there are Sequoias in Sequoia National Park; as a matter of fact, I've seen them.

There also a single tree growing in Millersville, PA. Due to the property owner's privacy concerns, I will not disclose where. That said, it's well above the other nearby trees and will likely become a landmark in the next 10-20 years when it's bottom limbs break free of the canopy.

I may enjoy watching someone’s content, but I couldn’t ever imagine going to their private home and expecting them to just let me in or somehow be flattered that I stalked them and creeped their whole family out. Some people have way too much confidence and zero self-awareness - so dangerous. I personally don’t care who sits on my screen as long as the topics are good. You and Karl are both great, but so are the ones that types up the script, researches information, edits the videos, etc. It’s a team effort and it really is done well, so thanks to everyone for churning these videos out for us to enjoy at no cost.

I have been here several times in my life. The size and beauty are great. It’s sad how every amazing site or place has a dark past. However you choose to see it, that’s how we got here. I wish knowing history would help us not repeat it but that’s just something we tell our kids.
