I think the most frustrating things the game tells you something can't be done is when the queue pops. You can't change zones, you can change the price of something on your retainer that's already being sold but you can't put something new up for sale even if you're on the price menu, you can't even eat food. It's so bizarre and I hope things like that just get ironed away

not being able to swap jobs when you're in a cutscene and your 45 minute long queue you forgot about finally pops and your sole option is to skip and re-watch it at an inn is also a huge problem. once upon a time sprout me didn't realize you couldn't skip the zone introduction cutscenes and missed a queue, i remember being alarmed by the "penalty has been increased" pop-up too

I subscribe to this Solution 9 theory because it explains most of the weird stuff about S9 (the proto-alphabet, the friggin Soul Supply...) and also gives us the potential to meet new characters who could be reincarnations of some of the Ancient characters, but without having to bring them back "as themselves" or wait for them to be reborn and grow up or whatever. I think S9's residents are genomes, possibly led by one or two of the remaining sundered Ascians.

Also!!!! You said CC comparable to CoM, but I'd say it's closer to Days! CC takes a character who was important and had little screentime and expands on him, and so does Days with Roxas!

i think Chains and CC are similar in their divisive control scheme, where Days and CC are similar with the premise/character bits you mentioned and by the sound of the CC slander they probably were thinking more in terms of how weird psp CC is to actually play. personally, i named my ffxiv chocobo Zack and dyed him black because Zack Fair is best boy, though, so i'm biased

You know what would be good along with the game being harder than something you can do one handed while asleep? having jobs actually be fun and not just different colours of 30, 60 and 120 sec cds.

In both cases where Thancred could have died him being the only, or one of the only tanks isn't a reason to say with certainty that he HAD to survive so he could be the tank. If the devs wanted him dead they absolutely could have found a way around the trust system. for example, In shadowbringers they could have used the established dungeon, trial, dungeon, structure to fake us out and could have made the mines part open world content part solo duty. They could have had the dungeon happen after the solo duty with its story being a repurposing of the heroes gauntlet - Eulmore could have decided to just camp outside the opening to the well then take our group by surprise. They could have placed breadcrumbs for a Eulmorean soldier that's sympathetic to our cause, maybe they have a change of heart and they leave the key to our cells just in reach and we manage to sabotage the airship mid-flight, from there its a dungeon where we travel across the world to get back to safety. The story would need some slight changes but since we're already talking about a hypothetical situation where Thancred doesn't make it a change to some of the lead up to his duel and the aftermath isn't out of the question.

I just think Ishikawa just doesn't kill characters that she didn't create, like I can say at least she sticks to her principles and still more or less makes a compelling story regardless of those said principles. Notice how she does kill characters SHE had a major hand in, for example, the Crystal Exarch (G'raha is someone different with the memories), Zenos, Emet, Edlibius, Tesleen, Fandaniel, etc. but many characters she didn't have a major hand in she rarely maims or kills them. There was an interview where she mentioned that she (jokingly) desired to become head writer after Maehiro (also in charge of FFXVI's story) killed several of her characters like Moenbyra and Haurchefont which upset her because she had plans for them that she disclosed with Maehiro and the writing team. Due to that sentiment and respect, she doesn't severely harm characters not created during her tenure as head writer without the permission of their creators.

As to healers; I like healing, not DPSing. When I want to DPS, I play RDM. I do like more complex healing kits (like SCH, though I do enjoy WHM and Misery is adictively fun to use), just the current encounters don't really flex them and we have WAY too many oGCD heals. I do get that some people want a more DPS focused healer, I don't think they all need to be that way. Same with Tanks. I think the ideal should be to have some of each. With Trusts, they could just do the Memoria thing (the Solus fight?) where you're creating simulucrums from your memories. With the Azem stone, it makes sense. So plot armor is unnecessary for that. Hey now, I loved Dirge of Cerberus. It was a bit hammy and clunky, but I enjoyed the gameplay well enough and the story was at least mildly interesting to me and added to the world's lore. Crisis Core isn't like Chain of Memories. Crisis Core is to FF7 what BIRTH BY SLEEP is to Kingdom Hearts. BBS was the 10 year prior prequel to flesh out some of the backstory and characters more which then added characters to the later sequels (KH3 with Terra, Aqua, and Ven).

i will not stand for Crisis Core slander in this house! but honestly if you want one that doesn't control so weird, the remaster they did is just the psp game with added Remake combat and uncanny npc faces. Dark Firaga is still just as busted as it ever was. tinfoil hat theory for Yoshi P's statement involving side scrolling without pitfalls; at least 1 trial boss in Dawntrail will have multiple or changing holes in the arena, like Suzaku and the tree from Pandaemonium. Mostly because that'd actually be really fun and different to affect the arena more.

The difficulty statements is giving me hope for Dawntrail if they ramp up the challenge a little bit. If you’re not doing savage you don’t have to pay attention or try at all while you’re playing which is a shame. I’m usually watching anime on my 2nd monitor while i’m doing content and i’m still doing fine without making mistakes/dying.
@TheOneGreat
@TheOneGreat 6 ай бұрын
It's not even easy but brain dead. Doesn't need to be balls to the walls difficult but you should have to pay attention and not resort to Netflix because you're bored. Crazy idea, I know. lol
@iChannelz88
@iChannelz88 6 ай бұрын
@@TheOneGreat Yeah, atleast some “threat” of dying so you have to pay attention should be there. Right now you just get a slap on the wrist with an invul stack or damage down on majority of all non-savage content and the boss is already dead by the time you’ve built up too many. Very few mechanics instantly kills you unless they have a very long cast time so you can see them from miles away. Most braindead jobs ingame atm are healers because you don’t have to actively heal and instead only rely on ogcd heals because there’s barely any damage going out

Sorry to burst your bubble but the comments Yoshi P said were directed toward the relics. Granted it is a good thing they realized that having some sort of content like Field Exploration with some level of difficulty (or "stress" as translated) is necessary for retention. The normal difficulty will still likely cater to the lowest denominator for the MSQ-only folks with an occasional dungeon (i.e. Holmiester Switch, Mt. Gulg, Tower of Zot) or boss mechanic that will trip people up at first (like Trials did in EW but later on only really Trial 2 is the "most difficult" 6.0 trial). Remember for solo duties they added Easy and Very Easy difficulty due to massive complaints that the solo duties in EW were "too hard" and people couldn't progress the story, but that doesn't really affect the multiplayer aspect.

@@coolyeh1017 Yeah, I don't have much hope. Difficulty sliders should be a no-brainer but for some reason that only goes in one direction. Something gaming solved a couple of decades ago.

Savages aren't that hard either, I recall farming that p7s fight while half asleep, the only moment where it required attention were the minotaurs right before enrage and the boss usually died right at that spot. The design of the fights being long and following a script makes it super braindead once you memorize the movements, its like playing music, once u learn it you can play it on auto pilot.

“It’s so hard to fail-“ HAHAHAHAHA. AND YET THEY STILL FAIL. XIV is a TalesFromDF simulator and ANY increase in skill floor is going to exponentially increase the misery others’ incompetence inflicts on me. Do not touch the skill floor.

@@JathraDH No, they/you were not. You have quite the selective memory. Video games are never actually hard, despite what g*mers like to believe. Fighting games are the only exception. Making XIV harder will achieve nothing but annoy me when you’re in my party.
@JathraDH
@JathraDH 6 ай бұрын
@@simoncoweII Lol. Hard is a subjective thing. But FFXIV was objectively harder in the past. There was more skills to take into account, sub jobs, harder checks on dungeons, early introductions of things like no telegraph bosses (AV boss 2). When you take away those things and don't make players learn them then woah they don't know them later on when they suddenly show up. And people wonder why healers don't know how to esuna anymore, for instance. You sound like a toxic piece of crap TBH so I wouldn't want to be in a party with you anyways. Also lmao. There are plenty of genuinely hard games out there besides fighting games. You sound quite biased and misinformed as well.

@@JathraDH Not really most veterans playing ARR or HW can attest that the player base as a whole on average got better as there is a slight difficulty ramp come ShB and EW, the devs specifically mentioned that the average player has gotten better and that they feel pressured to up the difficulty in Ultimate and savage content. The problem is that the difficulty curve didn't really change much between ShB to EW and the tools each job had just got power crept making things like normal duties significantly easier. The only thing old ARR and HW had were jank or outdated mechanics that had some weird requirement that no regular person could figure out on the first or second try and the devs got rid of most of them to adhere with modern-day indicators and mechanics.
@JathraDH
@JathraDH 6 ай бұрын
@@coolyeh1017 Except those old mechanics taught people to use their brains and learn. The game was more punishing as well in normal content. It was still extremely easy, don't get me wrong, but it held people to a higher standard. The game had a natural progression of introducing stuff that is needed later and a much narrower gap between normal content and hard content. Now they have gutted most of that natural progression and the gap between normal and hard content is a canyon. For one example most of the post ARR dungeons require healers to actually pay attention to debuffs, use esuna, clear doom etc. Stuff like this also used to be in normal MSQ dungeons. It has all been removed now though to optional content only. The "jank and outdated" mechanics as you put it made the game actually interesting and fun as well.
