this sounds so high quality, it sounds so "studio-like". it sounds more high quality that most if not almost all songs these days lol

You're gonna restore the whole OST again, aren't you? You're going to restore an integral part of my childhood and bring me immense joy while you're at it, aren't you? You're going to do an amazing job at bringing these classic tunes to life in a way no one else ever has, aren't you? I knew it, you can't be stopped. You fiend. You villain. You absolute restorer of childhood joy and wonder. I hope karma gets you for this and punishes you with everything that is good in this world.

thank you sam, really. you are doing an amazing job - listening to so many soundtracks of my childhood in this quality... it's just wonderful!

This sounds exactly like what would happen if nintendo did a "Yoshi's Island Returns" kind of reboot on modern platforms (excluding the multiple times they've tried and failed to do that)
@UltraNintendoChalmers643 ай бұрын
Yoshis island DS was good though felt like more of a new game and New Island was crap.

Not in my opinion. Their current track record shows they usually remake the songs from scratch, with little embellishments and changes and using different instruments

Please put this soundtrack on vinyl too when its done. This sounds so great

the original had a real harmonica too. it was just very compressed.

Just curious and I don't know if or how many times this has been asked and answered, but is there any chance of full restored game soundfont releases? I know you do list all of the different libraries and machines that the original samples come from, but having convenient SF2 files full of high-quality instruments from classic games would be the cherry on top.

Hmm, that's a good idea

I really second this
@ciaragarrity64254 ай бұрын
This is an interesting idea! I seen people make their own tracks or fan renditions based on soundfonts (like SF2) for fun... Undertale tracks like that of 'CORE' in the Megaman X soundfont for example. Sometimes people just want to experiment how a particular soundtrack would sound if applied to a favorite OST.

Please do: Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Safari.
@davpro17924 ай бұрын
btw how do you achieve these restorations? do you use the actual exact same original uncompressed samples? (that were later compressed on the snes)? like are they the same, or just ones that sound close?
@JamminSamMiller4 ай бұрын
There's no way to really know for sure, but most likely it's the same ones. It's an imperfect art to match the originals given how badly compressed they were
@davpro17924 ай бұрын
0:17 mistake? sounds like there is a snare instead of a kick. or is it also like that in the original?
@JamminSamMiller4 ай бұрын
Yes, it's a variation where he starts with a low pitched snare on the downbeat

Hyped you're on a Yoshi's Island kick since it's one of my favourites, but surely you could just link the same video from a month ago?

Someone requested an extended version. I'm not sure I understand what linking would do in this case. Also, the thumbnail source is in the description. I don't think the artist used AI
