Yost Vises 750-DI Heavy Duty Rotating Vise

I bought this vice. Very first time I spun the vice around to the pipe vice side the locking screw that keeps it from spinning stripped. I ended up modifying the vice with a locking pin since the iron would easily strip out no matter how many times or what size I retaped it. Other than that, it's a good vice.

I just got an old red vice which looks just like this Yost 750DI with only slight differences (it has 3 hold down bolt hole mounts to mount nearer to the bench edge) but there is no visible markings or name on it? It has a stripped out rear cover block lead screw ACME threaded housing and I need a new rear cover with good threads. It looks almost identical to the listed part number (23) for the Yost 750DI rear cover. Is there any way to identify if it is a Yost or not?

I have an imitation vice, now I know what those vee grooves at the bottom of the vice do !

does it rattle on that wee pin if you rotate it though ,,, nothing else locks it , just the wee pin in a notch ??

tom thompson it fully locks when the item in the jaws is clamped down. The pin is just for positioning the head before clamping down.

This vise is. nice and heavy duty with one major flaw that causes me not to recommend this model. the pull pin rotating mechanism is both cheap and doesn't have the quality that the over all product has. If I could I wouldn't hesitate to send it back and get ore traditional lock down
