Another way to look at this project is this: You didn't take this on to do it half a$$ so in my book, you're golden. Do it as many times as you want until YOU are happy with the finish. Sides, we all learn from these videos.

Put a little reducer in that clear doesn’t take much about 10% and it lays down so much better I recently switched to this clear and I love it

You are spot on, but It get a lot easier to run the clear.

That's true thats why I just like to add maybe 10% doesn't thin it out too much but seems to help it flow a lot nicer I always say if you don't get a run every now and then you're not pushing it enough

the body shop i worked at used to basecoat paint the cars 2x. First coat went on and it sat in the sun a couple days. Then we'de block sand that and repaint. A second paint job always looked way better especially over areas that had bodywork done. I sometimes sprayed the first coat and if the paint booth was busy, i'de spray it outside if the weather was good. One time i sprayed a car outside and the conditions must have been perfect because we joked it had less dirt in it than if it were painted in the booth.

Great videos Bro , I love you're persistence to do the best you can. I guess we're so much alike , perfectionist . I have an 04 Tacoma, my buddies keep telling its almost a twenty year old truck ( what do you expect ) . Deep inside we know it can look and run as good as new or better. Keep up the great video, god bless .
At first l said " not again " then my o.c.d. kicked in, yup you have to be satisfied with it or you will beat yourself up. Great job, can't wait to see the finished truck! I do like that you painted the topper to match too. ✌🏻🔑, 👌🏻👋🏻 🇨🇦 👨🦽 😎.

That wavy back door was probably from the last paint job with some guy going animal with a D/A. I usually let clear sit a week before cut/buff so it's pretty hard and shrunk, you and I don't have the luxury of bake in our booths to speed it up.

you're obsessed. Orange peel is normal...have you ever seen OEM bmw paint jobs??? "orange peel" should be named after bmw instead of oranges.
@stevendouglas65932 жыл бұрын
I watched a video where the painter was talking about having to match the amount of orange peel in the original paint, when doing repairs. He said European cars had more Orange peel than Japanese or American cars.

Dosent orange peel occur when there is thick paint? A VW dont have as much orange peel but will get its paint chipped by a mosquito, and bmw dont get chips nearly as easy 🤔
@christophers.40072 жыл бұрын
@@quadracer567 orange peel is mostly caused by how the paint is laid down, not really the thickness of the paint.
