I have a dewalt right angle adapter that would allow you to drill those holes without cutting the plastic piece. Just another option for anyone not wanting to cut or remove front bumper.

Is installing the recovery gear to the crash bar a good idea? Crash bars are yield element and easily stressed out. Thats why they are made of aluminum and not of chassis grade steel. Would be interesting to know how they work.

Dang, I was hoping I could just get the bumper since I don’t care about the hooks. But it’s a clean install and I want it because it doesn’t affect the air dam and gives me something besides plastic on the front. Great video too, I’ll be purchasing soon.

You should cold galvanize or treat the cut light bracket for rust protection and perhaps tack weld it to the top of the recovery hook

As always, great content! In all honesty, I don’t do a lot of off-roading, so these will likely be a 99% aesthetic add on for me. However, in the Midwest, we get some sketchy weather, so for that 1% chance, I’d like to use them as intended. My question is, would the hooks be compromised without using the rivnuts? I know I may catch some flack for asking and that’s ok, just want to know if it’ll hold up without them. Lastly, can the nytop badge be removed? Thanks in advance! Btw, I’m getting the rear rescue hooks, so I’ll have that option too along with the hitch obviously.

I'm not really sure how much the rivnuts are actually doing when it comes to pulling out the weight of a vehicle. I'm sure it would be ok but its always best to install it 100%. And yes, the badge does come off of the front bumper. It's just held on with double sided tape.

If you remove the bumper will you still have to cut that piece of plastic below the recovery point?

If you remove the bumper you should be fine with not cutting the bumper. I thought I said that in the video but I must've forgot.

I'm no engineer but rivnuts in thin aluminum is not a structural anchor point IMHO. The front recovery hooks appear to be for looks only not actual function!

They attach to the frame at the back, the added points seem to just be for extra rigidity.

@ it’s just a plug that’s mounted on the front bumper so be able to plug in a block heater cord for the engine, I’m from Canada so it’s important to have. i think there is a few different spots they mount it, the tundra I’m looking at getting it looks like it’s mounted right on the front plastic piece under the right fog light. Maybe just above where you would make the cut out for the recovery point.

@@yotaxpeditionit’s a factory option depending on where you are from I believe. Here in Canada most vehicles come with one to help with starting in the cold weather

Ahhhh I got ya. I would make the assumption our Tundra does not have that. I looked at some pictures of the plug location, some have it on the actual piece that the hooks go through, some have it on the piece above where the hooks go. If the plug is on the lower piece it looks like its right above where the recovery hook sticks through the bumper. It would be really close. One option you can do is get a new plastic piece that has no hole for the plug and you can drill a new hole for the plug a few inches away from the hook.

Thank you for the video, a bit late to the party, does anyone know the preper torque for those 7/8" bolts? I found 98 lbs/ft as the OEM recommendation for the tow hitch, but NYTOP's website states to torque all bolts to 148 lbs/ft. Can anyone enlighten me with the right spec? Thank you!

Which red hooks are you talking about? The ones sticking through the front bumper are the NYTOP hooks. The hooks underneath are the aFe recovery hooks

As a Toyota Tundra Owner, Toyota is far the most overrated Car Company on the Planet, I like my SR, but its by far the worst engineered 1/2 Ton on the Market, while the aftermarket picked up the ball Toyota Fumbled, the new Tacoma is proof positive, that Toyota's best days are behind them, Now with this system, its great and happy to see there is a work-around to some simple problems that should have never existed in the first place.
