How good were You Am I live in the 1990s? I recall a gig at Adelaide Uni in the late 1990s with Tim Rogers drinking out of a whiskey bottle and bantering with the fans about the 1998 Grand Final between songs. I went to that gig thinking I'd have one or two drinks and watch from the back because I had a maths lecture at 8am the next morning. A few hours later, I'm plenty of beers down, moshing and crowdsurfing. I can still remember the next day's hangover, looking at equations on a whiteboard and trying not to vomit. Great days!

Rusty Hopkinson's drum fills on this rendition are faintly miraculous

In what way? I read your comment and then watched the clip expecting something special but they seem quite rudimentary. There's certainly nothing complex about them; mainly just some flourishes on the snare and cymbals from time to time.

Another great show at the Metro in the late 90s early 00's I'm 55 now You Am I headlining with Powderfinger and Jebidiah in Support . And I'll throw one out there that Homebake shat all over The Big Day Out in those days.

Didn't know they started playing as a 4 piece this early. I saw them live several times between 95-7 and I'm sure they were a three piece?

Greg Hitchcock (I think that's his name) used to play keyboard/Second guitar for them for certain songs that required it.

They literally started playing as a 4 piece during this very song.

Yeah, you are right... Tim used to have to play blended parts, with Andy filling rhythm space as well as he could / did - it was a speed-fuelled wonder to see and hear. And the Metro was just the right venue for it. All those years ago !

Actually I saw Davey play his first show with them in '99 I think, in Sydney - it didn't go well, Davey was really nervous, mucking with pedals and tuning, but everyone loved Tim introducing him as "Terrence Trent dArby on the lead... gee-tar !"
