2:49 Monika being the only one who breaks some sustained notes into little quick notes for this section makes her stand out of the other girls in a good way, and the "Your Reality" motif at 3:24 goes *perfectly* on this song, almost sounding like "the canon ending" for me. In Sayori's mix I can spot the "Ohayou Sayori!" motif at 1:53, so that gives it the "official ending" vibe too. On Yuri and Natsuki's mixes I couldn't spot any motifs from the game, can someone tell?

Okay so, here’s the one i picked first. If you know me that’s no surprise as i really love monika (it was a no brainer when i got the option) and personally this one sounds really amazing as well, the way Monika sounds here is stunning i can’t really say much else. This has to be one of the best songs in the mod, and yes i mean all versions of this song as well.

I could be kinda crazy but I interpret this version of the song as Monika deciding that she’s decided to move on from the player due to all the harm she’s caused in doing so and allowing herself a chance to love the protagonist. And well… she finds herself pretty happy.

I love this interpretation, although it's sad it gets immediately discarded as right after the song ends, BF and GF appear through the portal to the real world and once there Monika decides one day she'll find the player. But really, I love the concept of Monika deciding to move on from us and try to give the MC a chance, there should be a DDLC mod about that.

They would sound unphased from 1:52 until 2:49 because they all sing entirely different sections, and in 2:50 they would blend perfectly (assuming the audio is synced perfectly too).

To be honest, Monika was the last choice of mine. Now that got to know the characters a bit more, I think Monika is my least favorite of all of the dokis. It was Natsuki before but now I've gotten to like her more. Not that Monks isn't a good character, it's just, I feel like she's not as interesting to learn more about than the others. Monika just doesn't really have a real struggle in her life besides her realization that nothing is real. With the others, you can relate to them more cause they're struggles feel very real and something that could relate to real world struggles. Also i don't think Monika really likes MC, she just uses him as a key to get to us, our real selfs. But that's just my opinion, you can have your own opinions on the four girls.

I relate to your opinion. I came to the conclusion that "the game" made of Monika just a bridge for the events of the story to go along. A visual novel's story can't really work if all of the weight of the events lies on the main characters to choose; it eventually gets to add "stranger", "mom", "teacher", "student", etc. Monika, instead of having her own route, was made a side character; that explains the fact that we have little to no depth of her personality, struggles, or preferences. IF Monika had a route of her own (which would only be possible if the main story is rewritten), maybe she would not be the "attention seeker" we see of her in the third day of the story (I mean, the day your write your third poem for one of the girls)... Maybe she would be pictured as an unexperienced leader who does her best to make everyone to take poetry as passionate as she does, OR she could retain all of her previous traits, but with the addition of "I live under the pressure of high expectations from my family, teachers, and friends", or "I have the facility to become popular, but I've never had a truly close friend in my life". Summarizing, I agree on the current version of Monika (delivered by Dan Salvato in the official game) not being as interesting as the other girls, but I picture a reality in which the game gives Monika a route of her own and we get to know a truly interesting girl worthy of love and friendship. Maybe all of that made my instinct to choose Monika within the 10 seconds window we have to choose for the first time when playing on story mode, even when "the childhood friend" is always the canon ending for me in visual novels (yes, I replayed the song later on and chose Sayori).
