Hey! Thank you for all your support! Its been amazing! God bless You! Join the DISCORD : discord.gg/fT5r33rR53 And sorry for the whistling noise in the audio the crickets invaded my recording :( I was very vulnerable in creating this video because I know how much of a touchy topic referencing is but I wanna make a few things clear especially if they weren't clear already. -When I mentioned that you should "cut the artist" from your mood board/Reference I simply mean from a stylistic approach just so you can help in the development of your own art style and confidence and feel like less of a fraud. -Also when i said you should try to not look at their work whenever you cant figure something out, I simple said that because i believe it will help you to use your own brain and own creativity to develop the image instead of taking the cheap easy way out by copying what your favorite artist does "challenge yourself a bit" -Your technical skills are still important to your development so don't expect not referencing/copying will make you better but it will feel more rewarding when you attempt to make the "stylistic choices" on your own (and its still completely fine with referencing your favorite artist don't let me stop you lol)

I've always felt like if i used a reference in my art then it is no longer mine... And i still do. it's too the point where i can't even think of a drawing idea without immediately pointing out to myself something it reminds me of and then not allowing myself to draw it because it's "not original enough"
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
I completely understand where your coming from and I understand the sense of unoriginality but understand it’s fine to be inspired by others and to use others as a means to help point yourself in the right direction where things get bad is when you are too reliant on them and can’t do anything on your own which could be the bi product of just being lazy (like me lol) or not having that creative fire to make your own interesting pieces 😭 so don’t feel too bad most of us aren’t that “original “ you like what you like and so do others that’s why we have communities for specific ideas and concepts just study from real life wherever you can, build up your fundamentals (construction, anatomy, etc) and every now and then try to mix in some of your inspirations or creativity to develop your way of doing things 😎🙏🏽

even if u steal from nature its still extracted from nature guess where other artists get their ideas
@K.uro-VinАй бұрын
It's okay. Nothing is completely original. Even though, you can still make it your own with your own colour pallete, style or composition. You're the one making it, so it's yours.

yeah i hate using reference because its so hard too draw like someone else, i usually only use reference for anatomy and fanart but i never try to draw exactly like someone else or do a pose gust like someone else (unless like practice or something) the best piece of advise i ever got from someone is too do life your way and you will succeed so i kind of apply that to my art but still everyone should have a firm grasp of the basics and if you really like art never give up plus ultra 110% and what not love the video btw

Yh I agree on that advise and yeah never give up on your dreams PLUS ULTRA‼️ thank you for watching also ‼️🙏🏽

the timing on thhis omg, im going thru the exact same situation, i dont feel like i could create something of my own. Its been so hard, and knowing some is going thru something similar to me feels like im not alone anymore, struggling to find my style, struggling to be creating, form an image in my head that i can translate into a blank canvas. People need to talk more about this side of pursuing art. Thank you for sharing your side of it.

I have been having the same issue ever since I've been trying to pursue art. I love to draw and learn. I've been drawing since I was a kid but this year I've started to take it seriously after graduating, but I've had this deep feeling in my subconscious where I feel like I've been doing it for approval instead of drawing for myself. I've been working on my mentality and it has been improving but sometimes I do get stuck in that headspace. The title hits hard because another artist, a while back, has told me that "I'm not a real artist" because back then, I drew pictures only because I was bored. But recently I've been drawing a lot and trying to learn new things. But whenever I have those thoughts I stress over it a lot and feel overwhelmed, sometimes I have the urge to quit after thinking that way.
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
Don’t pressure yourself in the creative process just because you draw out of “boredom” doesn’t mean you are not a “real artist” you put your pencil, brush or whatever you draw with to your canvas and you create and that in itself is enough to classify as an artist at least at the basic level 😎 keep putting in the work and enjoy the good times n understand that bad times come‼️🙏🏽 all the best on your journey‼️👍🏾

As someone who has been struggling to appreciate the growth and progress of their own art style for over 10 years, I appreciate this video. I was the type of artist who would cry for not having the art style of X and Y artist on instagram and I did tried to replicate many art styles behind the stage to train poses and anatomy, etc. However I feel I learned much more when I started to sketch out of my brain during classes than when using other artists artworks as my sole reference. I do enjoy my art style today, it's weird, it's not liked by most people, but I'm quite content with it. Thanks for the video! Your way of putting your toughts and words is very calming and motivated me while I was drawing! Sending hugs and my best wishes for you and your chanel 💓🙏

Thank you so much for watching and I Agree with the feeling that you get from making your art without just relying on reference! It’s just a great feeling I would like to think it’s almost as if I’m at a “check point “ from referencing just see where my skills are at! Thank you again for watching the video and I wish all the best on your journey as well 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I've always been fascinated by digital art. But like I don't have a device where I can draw properly but I always try to improve my art with just traditional art.
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
That’s good you still use traditional art to improve its basically the same thing on digital so once you get the hand of whatever tool or platform you plan to use you will be fine 👍🏾🙏🏽‼️

I would like to share a different perspective for this issue. I don't think referencing is what actually makes someone feel like they aren't creative. Everything I create is a mix of years of visual gallery, yet it feels personal no matter if it's a personal or work piece I think the issue comes from the fact we want every piece to be seen, polished, not experimental, homogenous portfolio with a distinctive pattern that defines ourselves. Scared to experiment, To draw something that might won't work. I love the semi-realistic style I have developed. But it's in my anime art, sketchy lineworks, pinterest reference studies that never get to be posted is where I truly feel creative freedom while still learning new things! If I only reference from the artists “I want to become/be as successful as” instead of the ones that simply catch my eye and never let myself experiment different things. I would simply feel like a copycat or fake
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
Ahh great point!!

I am not a good artist by no means, but I have a pride I can’t seem to throw away when it comes to references. I can’t bring myself to use references from other artists cause I feel like I want to make something myself and if I reference an other artist I will not be making it myself anymore. So real life is the only thing I really study from, or anatomy references with marked muscles and such.
@Tyler-zk8znАй бұрын
Also something I wanna mention and maybe is the reason I’m still this bad, is I don’t use references for my drawings. I hate it like the pest to use references for an idea I want to create.
@KipperTheSeventhАй бұрын
@@Tyler-zk8zn I can't even bring myself to use real life references even my own hand feels like cheating to me
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
Oh I understand I know a few people who think the exact same way and in my personal opinion it’s not cheating depending on how you perceive it. The best reference is real life for sure but if you are a character Artist or someone more involved in the fictional or imaginary/fantasy space then a lot of the things you would have to draw in that space would not be real 🥲 so unless you are a very creative individual then by all means do what you must but if you are like me who pull my “inspirations” from manga or any other works of fiction/artist then it’s really not cheating in my opinion it’s just a way to get the engine running 😂🙏🏽 but again I understand where your coming from and I hope you can understand my pov and keep studying and drawing and getting better‼️🙏🏽

It is so crazy, I never got there, but I can understand how depressing it could be to be caught in such a trap. I got inspired by so many artists, but it is like: - oh hey, I love hey they use yellow color, I gonna try to incorporate it in my stuff - I love how they draw eyes, I wanna try it out - I love this depth of BG, I wanna try something similar. In the end, it is still my thing (strength and flaws), I can't copy them completely. People do say they can recognize my stuff no matter what style I try (anime or more realistic) and post anon xD I think I have rather an opposite problem - often I just draw whatever and then realize that I probably should have used a ref xD I agree on the last point - try to do your own stuff more. Just empty canvas and you. Or take random objects you see outside or a movie and try to mash it together. Like sunflower, plastic bottle, rain -> design a character based on it. Such pieces won't get much attention at first, but you can use this skill when creating fanart, and those works do end up standing out a lot.
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
Exactly and at the end of the day for me personally I feel soo much more better and confident when I put genuine effort into creating a good drawing despite what social media might rate it and I’ve grown as an artist since I’ve been taking this approach to my work to rely more on “my creativity” and what I like instead of trying to copy the best looking “art style” 🙏🏽
@kaosedraws4801Ай бұрын
Stop studying other artist, do life drawing via photos and irl. It will help put your mind in prespective
@markiicreativeАй бұрын
True I agree but I think we all have our inspirations and for many that just happens to be other people’s work but it is better for all of us to practice and reference from real life first and use our favorite artist as a “stylistic” inspiration but at the same time just like anything else in this world too much of one thing can be bad for you😭
