Excellent video. This is virtually my situation. I'm trying to recover and save. Then I peek over the fence tonight and the whole yard is in dandelion bloom. I'm out there spraying Round Up under the fence watching the seeds floating over my yard. I'm so upset. When I see the husband I'm going full BYD on that guy.

My Dad and I used to work in the yard all the time when I was growing up and I loved the time I got to spend with him doing it and I also learned a lot of what to do and not to do! And my Dad had a beautiful yard all of the time! But after he passed there was no one around that came to help take care where he left off. I had moved to Florida to be with my new husband and when I came back home to take care of my Mama I was really in shock when I saw the condition of everything! Not only the yard! But I began to put all that my Dad had taught me into getting this place back in shape! I've been here taking care of Mama and this place and the yard for 8 years now. The first couple of years the grass and yard were beautiful! Then we got slugs, grub worms, and moles like I'd never seen before! The moles practically killed almost all of the grass eating the grub worms! I tried everything! Finally I got the moles down to manageable by getting rid of all the grub worms! And then came time the beginning of Spring this year I noticed that where the grass had died it was like a barrier hard as a rock, and the dead grass wasn't letting anything get to the grass still trying to live? So I hand tilled our whole yard and totted all of it out of the yard and raked, I'm still raking the back yard, and I must say, the front yard and the golf grass Dad and I were given from the gold course we planted all those years ago, is very healthy and thick! I can barely push the mower through it in the front yard! There is one small place where I have to do something with the soul because it gets hard and nothing can grow because of it! The grass just spreads out in top of it! And not getting any roots in! So thank you for your videos and if you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix the soil that's hard, I'll do it! I bought some lye and haven't gotten the nerve to try it yet! The soil has a lot of clay in it! Thanks again and love your videos! Keep up The good work!

There is a moth problem and they lay eggs in your grass and caterpillars are hatched, called Army worms and they will eat the root system and kill the grass and all foliage! I noticed places in my Bermuda that wasn't filling in like the rest and investigated and found a bunch of these worms and after getting rid of them grass is coming back great now! Just a suggestion and what I found to be the reason for mine! Thank you

I just got in a hurry and I got the same product and all I had was a hand spreader it rained two nights ago it rained really heavy the ground is still barely moist but it doesn't look like the granules are sticking to the weeds hopefully it kills down to the root maybe I should water it but it's going to be a 90% chance of rain tomorrow. Well my yard is pretty much always except for some seeds I threw out when I put some dirt in some low spots my yard tends to wash away a lot. Am I going to grow new grass when all the weeds die how do I aerate it? Can I take a pitchfork and just poke holes all over the yard and spread some seed put down some peat moss Maybe

Vigoro weed n feed says every 8 weeks repeat the process. Should I do this every 2 months because it also says no more than twice a year.

You can do it two months from now but after the second app you’ll have to switch to one that does not have the weed part. vigoro has a final that is just fertilizer also.

Most products say only 2 times a season and 30-45 days apart . But read your product label for better answer.

Can’t really diagnose an unseen lawn but generally you won’t get results that fast. Could take a few weeks. I’d bag when I mow the lawn and make sure you applied it just like they said in the instructions of the product you used. Most say you can only apply a weed and feed twice a year. Plus you may have weeds that the product does not kill growing. ( Dallisgrass, POA ) 🤷🏾‍♂️

+Cool guy 101 you’ll only use a weed and feed when the lawn and weeds are actively growing. If it’s dormant and weeds then you need to treat with just a liquid or granular post Emergent ( liquid is better ). So soil temps has nothing to do with a weed and feed.

But like I said now the whole thing is brown and dead. So, my question is WHY? I thought it would only kill the weeds, not the grass! Also, when can I re-seed??

Could be many reason. You had more weeds that grass so when the weeds died it made it looked like it killed you grass. Possibly over applied. As for over seeding it can be done but the new grass probably won’t match the old grass.

Allows the chemical to work and absorb into the weeds on top. Watering it in 3 days later will wash herbicides into the soil to help kill off rest of weeds and the feed part will help grow the grass.

Grim Kreaper a couple of things here. Get a soil test before you add Lyme because adding it may raise you ph above 5.5-6.5. The soil test will tell you if you need to add Lyme. 2nd is use a broadcast spreader to do weed and feed and apply products by themselves not mixed together. 👍🏾

israels1inger there’s no real way to do that. You can pull it out by hand but the underground runners will just spread . You can spray glyphosate/ RoundUp in Spring or early summer but grass can’t be under stress plus I don’t recommend that, last one is to keep you cultural practices good and hope the hybrid can overtake the common in a few years. Kareem Gibson that I couldn’t answer but if a bag says it cover 10k and you have measured off 10k then you’ll have to eyeball it and spread that 10k of product over 10k sq ft evenly. Once you get the hang of it spreader settings won’t worry you then. Now if you buy a product and your spreader is listed on the bag then you should be good.
