EFAP Meme man, I must beseech thee due to my poor communicative capabilities, as well as audiovisual talents. As a member of the Fellowship of the Meme, I know you by contrast are well endowed. Look up the Major Grom trailer. Its a Russian Comic Book Movie coming out soon, and the full title is Major Grom *Plague Doctor* . I imagine you and your compatriots can fill in the rest, whoever would be so inclined to make such a meme.

It's easy to acknowledge Boba Fett as a badass just from his role in ESB, so long as you pay attention to what's going on rather than focus your attention on the flashing lights of the film. So it's no wonder Disney Wars fans thought he was useless.

Knee rockets make sense as a back up to the back of your backup. No one would ever expect there to be weapons hidden in the kneepads. So if hes ever captured and stripped of weapons he still has something to fall back on.

I know I'm a bit late on this video, but I have to disagree on the knee rockets. Putting explosives near your knee, explosives which are very exposed, is an incredibly stupid thing to do. If they were to ever go off without launching, they would fuck up your knee, which can lead to a quick death in a combat scenario. It also gives you a lot less control over where the rockets hit, even given they are heat seeking, or can lock on to targets. They also require you to be in essentially no cover to be used effectively, which isn't great. And if you were to encounter a particularly observant opponent, said opponent might just be able to hit them with a blaster shot, or an explosive of their own, leading to the aforementioned fucked up knee. Other than that it was a really solid video, and I am happy to sub.

Hang on, if Boba was captured and restrained, wouldn't his captors remove all of his armor? Including his knee pads, and thus, no knee rockets? If anything, I think they'd be more useful in an "under the table" situation - somebody catches you with your helmet off at a bar, puts a gun in your face and tells you "no sudden moves, do exactly as I say or I'll blow your head off," so you trigger the knee rockets with a seemingly casual gesture and let someone else clean up the mess.

The middle-ground is Boba isn't useless and he isn't the master villain. Consider this: the only reason Boba was on the Executor was, as one of Jabba's henchmen, he has experience of Solo. But otherwise he's a henchman of a minor slug on a dustbowl on the edge of the galaxy of millions of inhabited worlds. The reason why Vader barked at Fett was, well, Fett was _unprofessional._ He only cares if Solo lives because he's being paid much more for a live Solo. The only reason he knew how to track Solo wasn't that he was the best of the Hunters, but that he knew Solo's sneaky trick moves. So yeah, he's the best Bounty Hunter.... _on Tatooine._

tl;dw boba is either excessively lucky or excessively unlucky depending on what the plot needs from him.
@TheMemeRepository
@TheMemeRepository 3 жыл бұрын
I'd be interested in hearing your arguments there, but the only thing I can think of that relies exclusively on luck is his unfortunate trip into the sarlaac pit. Tracking Han Solo demonstrates a knowledge of tactics. He didn't stumble upon the Falcon, he was waiting for them to fire up their engines, so he knew exactly where they were, and after all the trouble that Han had already caused them thanks to Han's piloting, it was a far smarter decision to track the Falcon to its destination before then springing a trap once Han was seperated from his ship. Shooting at Luke demonstrated an environmental awareness, as well as strategic thinking. He'd spotted Luke the second he walked into frame, but could also see that he was waiting for the right time to strike. He used this to his advantage by have Han transported as far away from Luke as possible before he opening fire on him to delay his progress further. Thirdly, Boba was taking Han to Jabba, carbonite or not. Han was already a prisoner (thanks to Boba), and did need him so long as he had the Falcon and the rest of his friends as bait. The carbonite just made things more convenient.
@erenbecomesdovecrying6016
@erenbecomesdovecrying6016 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheMemeRepository you're burying the lede. Boba had no way of knowing the falcon would be hiding in the debris. The best faith interpretation of boba firing on Luke is that he heard R2. What we're shown on screen does not indicate he had any way of seeing luke. Luke was hiding before anyone came on screen. These all look like guesses on Boba's part, perhaps they are educated ones but still guesses. Seems at least partially luck based, what if his conclusion about where the falcon was happened to be incorrect? When the movies are done with him his jetpack just gets knocked around and he sputters to his supposed death. Anyone has to admit these events would have benefitted from more information and less inferences. A little head turn or minor hesitation walking down the hallway or something.
@TheMemeRepository
@TheMemeRepository 3 жыл бұрын
@@erenbecomesdovecrying6016 So, Boba was just floating out in space\hiding in the garbage near a very specific Star Destroyer because he had no idea where the Falcon was? Um, honestly it's more of a leap to me if we infer that he didn't have any idea, as what the hell was he doing floating around there with his engines off otherwise? As for Luke, I did just re-watch the scene with Luke, and he did duck behind cover much quicker than I thought he did, so that was just me misremembering that bit, so you were correct about Artoo informing him. I can definitely concede that as contrived, at least to a degree. Even with the worst faith interpretation, though, Boba was extremely quick to respond to Luke as soon as he was made aware of his presence, especially when you consider he was leading the group when we last saw him. It's not much, but at least shows efficient and effective at what he does, as it wasn't the much closer Stormtroopers that responded to him. In any case, the purpose of the video is to prove that Boba did have a meaningful impact on the story, which flies in the face of the criticism that he "did nothing". I'll concede that Artoo weakens that a little bit, but him tracking Han still shows an incredible amount of competence on his part, and even if there was a contrivance working in his favour, it was still Boba who delayed Luke and eventually delivered Han to Jabba. Would have loved some more insight into his thought process throughout that conflict, but it doesn't change the fact that removing him from the film would send shockwaves, as these events can only occur if a) Boba is a bounty hunter, and b) he's REALLY good at his job. Meanwhile, removing someone like Phasma (who he is often compared to) would change nearly nothing, as her only major contribution is shutting down Starkiller Base's shields, which not only paints her as completely pathetic, it is also a task any commanding officer could have done at gunpoint (and the less said about TLJ, the better). I will also steelman your points a little more by pointing out that Boba was lucky that Chewie decided to strangle Lando, which gave him just the delay he needed to take Han without a fight. ;) It wasn't a huge delay, but he might have had to fire off a few shots at the gang if Chewie hadn't gone ape shit.

@@TheMemeRepository I mean yes he clearly knew where the falcon was but as far as we're shown in the movie we dont actually know how. It's an oddly specific guess, or like you said an INSANE level of skill. there are good faith inferences but they are pretty stretchy. Yes clearly boba had an impact on the film...that wasn't what you asked me specifically. I think people comparing boba to phasma, which is stupid, has to do with his character fizzling out. First we're meant to believe hes outrageously skilled and then he just gets dunked on randomly.

@@erenbecomesdovecrying6016 skill in tracking is not the same as skill in combat. he can be outragiously skilled at tracking down targets and laying traps/etc, but still be less skilled in actual fighting, he is a bounty hunter not mercenary, a glorified FBI agent (and storm troopers are not shown to be a threat in the mando, so him dunking on them is not impressive)

@TheMemeRepository 3 жыл бұрын
I should probably clarify that my point was more that Boba was the main driving force behind Han's seperation from the rest of the group. Had the Empire done the rest of the grunt work, he would have just remained with Leia and the rest, as the Empire wanted Luke and knew that his friends would be the perfect bait. Boba, meanwhile, wanted the bounty on Han's head, something that was outside the terms of the deal that Vader made with Lando. So, while the Empire was ultimately a failure in their goals, everything Boba did ensured that he got exactly what he came for, and thus this was his victory in the end.

@@TheMemeRepository Vader said "He is all yours, bounty hunter". Boba knew that Luke came for Han, so he shot at him and took Han at Slave1, other stuff didn't bother him. But even if he didn't do it, there is no way Luke could just sneak behind stormtroopers and kill them all, he isn't yet skilled with the lightsaber. Yes, he tracked the Falcon, but in scene where Vader gives him instructions, officers already noticed where the Falcon was, so anyone of their pilots could do it. He isn't pointless, but still is overrated: because he has cool armour, fans cosplayed him for 40 years... Or maybe because he was only good thing in Holiday Special...
