We are almost always wrong, maybe not all the way wrong, but at least a little bit. Even the simplest questions have vast complexities built into them, and understanding that we never fully understand things leads to a much healthier and more effective relationship with the world.
It's really hard to come to terms with, but there it is. If you're curious about why we don't drink Pig's milk, Hank Sock posted an essay that is online at nerdfighters.ning.com/profiles...

One of the best pieces of advice my grandfather has ever given me (and that is a weird soup of things) is to never wholly believe anything anyone says, but instead to take it all with a grain of salt. I think he was subtly trying to tell me that what he was telling me might not, in fact, be correct, and if I go around flaunting that information I'll end up making a fool of myself, but regardless, it was very sound advice.

That is the more common interpretation of the term irony. It is one of the hardest terms to define, and it could perfectly fit this situation, but there's a lot of people that will argue that this interpretation is theoretically incorrect (kind of in the same sense that people will argue against the figurative use of "literally" because it is "wrong" - when in a word's meaning is actually defined by it's usage, not the other way around)

I really like this."The simple truth is; truth isn't simple". A definition of truth that requires an understanding of truth in order to fully grasp the truth of a description of a specific quality of truth? And in doing so, both contradicts itself AND makes a clear and singularly truthful statement? Which in and of itself is a contradiction? Nope, I'm pretty sure there isn't a word to cover that... UNTIL NOW! I present... contravusion. An apparent contradiction that requires a deja vu aspect [already knowing the meaning before you learn the definition], in order to provide clarity when melding two opposing statements into one cohesive statement.

This is what art is. The search not to simplify, but explore these incredibly complicated truths and try try try to get even a feeling of the whole of it, in one space. I'm finally getting around to watching videos from the beginning of the year, and this one reminds me so much of my Philosophy of Science class! I think you would like the class (although half of the people in it are part of the "Study of the Mind" program and tend to derail about whether we can ever say anything is real). It's mostly about what makes a good theory, how we know what we know, and the demarcation of science.

Whenever I need a helping hand or some way to bring back my faith in the human race, I find it in Nerdfighteria. The mere existence of such well thought out statements, the conversations in comments, the everything, makes life worthwhile. Even the term Nerdfighteria, to continue Hank's point, resists simplicity. Nerdfighters are not just one simple thing, but many varied things, many different peoples. These people, as a whole, make up Nerdfigtheria, the greatest hypothetical place on Earth.

This is so true. I have learned that, on most things, I am almost always wrong. It's not a matter of, I don't lack knowledge, it's because I failed to look at from a different perspective. The world is a very confusing place. Anyone who says it simple, isn't thinking hard enough. (Although, what I just wrote maybe wrong).

I completely agreeee! I've been sitting my final high school exams and only recently discovered that it's so much easier to study for maths. You either have the answer or you don't, it's quick (sometimes) and not much conflict. But humanity subjects, which I take a lot of, have millions of wrong, possible, or right answers. A simple question can have a variety of answers depending on how much each person knows or how they perceive the question. Crazy, really. yeh...
