What I'm hearing is: A 1301 is about the same price as an A300 WITH a Fighting Shotgun class thrown in. I think I'll just deal with the minimal recoil increase.

The 1301 has the recoil spring in the forearm while the A300 has the recoil spring in the buttstock...giving the 1301 an advantage when it comes to aftermarket buttstocks (it can use the Magpul stock). Also, the 1301 Tactical has been around longer and thus has more aftermarket support overall than the A300 Ultima Patrol. I think that BOTH are the best shotgun on the market for the money. So the question of which one to get has a simple answer...which one can you afford?

well, "afford" is tricky. If you can afford the 1301, that means you can afford an A300 and enough ammo to run it through a class. If clones took those 2 options then had to fight each other with their shotgun, I know who I'm betting on🤷‍♂️

The recoil system used by the A300 was what they used before they developed the system for the 1301.

The 1301 is a better shotgun. The real question is how/why are you running it? If it's just gonna sit there most of the time then just get a A300. That includes taking a class with the occasional range day. However, if you're gonna run it hard then maybe 1301 has the advantage in recoil management and rapid follow-ups. Not to mention you can customize it better.

FYI - The most recent Beretta 1301 "Gen 3" comes with the new Pro-Lifter, a semi-flat trigger, the A300 forend, and a 7rd fixed extension tube.

Does Gen3 have single piece bolt or two piece bolt that Tim spoke about losing the handle three times?

@@donhinkle3693 He's referring to the bolt knob. It's still the same, but that's definitely not a deal-breaker. Some thread locker, and you're good to go. zero issues.

But it still has the same old loading port and not the newer, scalloped one like on the A300. I have no idea why they'd implement all the new changes and leave out this obvious one. I guess I'll hold out for the "Mod 3." Until then, more than happy to pick up the A300

I own the a300 all decked out and it’s fantastic, for the price difference I went with the 300 it still shoots all ammo I’ve put through it, I have a few videos on my channel

This might need an Update, because the Standard 1301 Tactical is no longer available. The 1301 Tactical Mod 2 is greatly improved over the "Mod 1". The Mod 2 has the Ultima Patrol Handguard, Enhanced Loading gate that gets out of the way when loading, Flat Face Trigger, and enhanced barrel with extended forcing cone. There are a few other options, but these are the ones that come to mind.

Nice comparison! I liked that you had 2 different test subjects, one a less experienced shooter than the other, to get their impressions of the 2 models. I'm trying to decide between the A300UP and the 1301. I've been leaning towards the A300UP and your video may have made me lean that way even more. But considering the 1301, what are your feelings on a sport stock vs. a pistol grip stock?

1301 Mod 2 is the way to go now. The improved features of the A300 are now on the 1301 (2024).

Be careful if you live in one of those leftist bastions that demand tweaks to certain firearms. The Beretta A300 Patrol is one of them. I picked mine up 3 weeks ago, guy at the counter handed me my beautiful new shotgun...I said, what's this? This is not my A300? He said, yes it is. I said really. He said, what's wrong. So I pulled up the vendors website where I purchased it from, and showed him the pic of the A300 Patrol. He said, yea, you're right. So we did a little digging. What he handed me was in fact a Beretta A300 Patrol. But the certain State complaint 5 round model. And there's a lot more different than just the round capacity. It's still a great shotgun, it's a Beretta afterall. But the reality is that it looks more like Ol'Uncle Hanks duck gun than a tactical shotgun. And let's face it, the A300 was marketed as a tactical version of the A300 series. And I am convinced that's the primary reason many folks are drawn to it. Yes, you can trick it out with aftermarket kit, but that's more money on top of a somewhat pricey weapon already. I have already invested another grand into mine. Those of us that have no choice on account of the States we live in just need to be educated as to what you will be getting. Also, this is not on the vendors, most are unaware of the physical differences in the compliant and non-compliant models. Most are under the impression that the only difference is the round capacity, it is not. They, by default are using the graphic of the standard model while advertising the 5 round compliant model. I discussed this with Beretta and they agreed and said they will be sending out a correct graphic to all their vendors. Also, if you do buy this model and attempt to tweak it, make sure that the components you are considering are compatible with the compliant model. A few add-ons I was looking at were not, such as the Briley handguard. It's a beautiful handguard, just doesn't quite fit properly. All that said it was a great shotgun purchase still, I love mine!

1301 beats M4 in everything td you talking about, my Benelli M4 1014 came with plastic all over it and is heavy and alot more recoil then a 1301 this is how you tell me you dont know what youre talking about without telling me

1301 has far superior rear ghost ring sight. Adjustable and metal. 300 Ultima has a plastic non adjustable. First thing I upgraded on my 300.
