Brown Sugar & Cinnamon French Toast Casserole | Southern Kitchen
Upside Down Cinnamon Brown Sugar French Toast
NOTE: This is the original recipe, I cut it to make half. 😁👍
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter, melted
2 cups light brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 loaf French bread, cut into 2-inch slices
2 cups milk
8 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Pour melted butter into an 9X13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the butter and top with bread slices, making sure slices are placed close together.
Mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in a bowl until thoroughly combined; pour over bread in the baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate, 8 hours to overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Place the covered casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover, and bake until puffed and lightly golden, about 15 minutes more.

The French Toast Casserole looked so good. I have a similar recipe called Overnight Caramel French Toast that I got from a co-worker 35+ years ago. It calls for light corn syrup, butter and brown sugar combined and simmered until “syrupy” before pouring into baking dish. She wasn’t much of a cook🙃 but this was her signature dish whenever we had a breakfast “food day” where every person brought in something, even if it was just bakery doughnuts. Gonna give your recipe a try, seems less time consuming to make and looked just as delicious!!

Aldi sells canned fried apples either in their canned veg and fruit aisle, or in the baking aisle. I use them to make apple recipes. When Titus mentioned about an apple taste in your yummy looking french toast casserole, I thought of the canned apples you could use another time in your recipe. The canned apples don't have the "goo" (😅) that apple pie filling has, so they can be used in different ways. 🥰🍃🍂🍁💗✝

I occasionally do a food delivery but this last time was not good. The person picking things out missed a few important items and he put 2 ginormous spaghetti squash, a large melon and just as large cantalope in a paper bag! Yowser, thank goodness our son is strong because this 76 yr. old woman with a complete metal spine would have to roll those items into the kitchen.😅 1/2 of one of the spag. squash was spoiled as was the lettuce and spinach mixture. I do Uber eats and I pick up orders from Walmart to deliver when they don’t have enough help or it’s time for the drivers to go home and a lot of times I don’t do Walmart because they don’t even have the stuff ready when it’s supposed to be ready

This happened to me this month on delivery they delivered my groceries to my son's house across the street then I called back then they tried to deliver it again and said they couldn't find the house I've been a member for over a year I get delivery I get delivery 1st of the month because I'm on disability

I can tell you where they’re struggling here where I live. They’ve hired people that do not know how to speak English and I’m not talking about one person I’m talking about in the store and for delivery the people can’t even communicate with each other. I worked at Walmart for six months to earn a little extra money and I saw it firsthand. They can’t follow human resource instructions, can’t follow GPS for delivering groceries and if they bring groceries that has cough syrup or something in that category in it they’re supposed to get a signature but if it’s been canceled or wasn’t in stock they can’t read to figure out that they didn’t even bring it in the first place.

I always had trouble with WalMart delivery and pick up to so don't feel bad. For some reason they would give me all expired stuff and that really made me upset. And I'm partially disabled and it's very hard for me to return things and I told them if I was able to come there to return things I would be able to come there to shop. So I stopped shopping at Walmart. I only go to Walmart to get my vitamins and my Pharmacy stuff I don't do prescriptions there either. But I'm 100% with you Walmart just cannot get it right and make sure you look at your expiration dates when you shop because they are really good at not pulling off expired stuff. Also make sure you look and see if there's any produce that's been recalled because a lot of their produce has been recalled lately up here in the Midwest states
