These episodes are brillant. I'm halfway through a 126 episode playlist, and i just love every one of them. When i was a kid, i sometimes watched Marx brothers in tv, with my dad and granddad. Great memories, from my childhood, in the 60s/70s in Denmark. Thanks for uploading these goldnuggets 👌👍

O . . M . . G . . I didn't recognize her at first, but eventually found out that Fay Spain played Darlin' Jill in an underrated masterpiece, God's Little Acre, with Robert Ryan and a host of other outstanding actors. She was terrific in that dark comedy [which also had Michael Landon as a hilarious albino dork]. That movie was made just TWO YEARS after this show, her career really took off right after this.

This is one of the top twenty YBYL episodes. The lie detector test was hilarious and a lot more. When the polygraph guy said he loved his wife the lie-meter didn't move but when he so much at looked at the pretty girl it jumped to 500! Several other gems as well. Don't mis this.

The one movie in which Fay Spain acted that nearly everyone has seen is "The Godfather, Part II." She has a small part as the much younger wife of the gangster Hyman Roth (Lee Strasberg). This was made about 20 years after her appearance on "You Best Your Life," but unfortunately there are no close-ups of her in this film.
@garyb339710 жыл бұрын
Despite the legendary status of the Godfather films, Spain turned in terrific performances in 1959's "God's Little Acre" and "Al Capone." She was also great in many, many TV guest appearances. It's a shame she didn't go further in her career, as she was beautiful and talented.

It is simply a delight to see the "real Fay", as there's no other interview available. She seemed bright and sweet, and despite her early drive-in flicks, she gave wonderful performances in "God's Little Acre" and "Al Capone." She is also terrific in countless TV guest appearances. She was really a very, very good actress and it's a shame she passed so young. So very beautiful.

I learned to read by the Look-Say method in California and 60 years later still can't spell worth a damn. I've investigated and concluded that virtually no one who learned by this half-assed system ever learned to spell.
@5thdimension6253 жыл бұрын
You’re right. Phonics is the best method to learn by. We taught our children to read at ages 2 and 3 with a book called “Teach Your Child to Read in 100 easy Lessons.” It’s been regarded as the best teaching book for reading ever written. Not bragging, because it’s their success not ours, but they are both very well read and I believe it’s because of the way they learned to read and enjoy reading.

I believe the date and episode number are correct, but the closing credits don't make sense. Older model cars, plus the crew isn't correct for Season 7. The fact that the quiz and final question formats were often changed from season to season helps to figure out some of these that get mixed up. IMDb has it wrong. They're showing it as #53-03 (Season 4, Episode 3) airing on October 1, 1953, which is way off. Perhaps, someone got thrown off by the bogus closing credits. I should have it fixed at IMDb in a few days.
@grouchomarx-youbetyourlife747611 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the public domain DVDs will put any old credits sequence on the front and back of the episodes. That's my only explanation. The date and episode number are correct though, per the only good log. Wonderful that you're updating this info on the imdb-- I mentioned it in a comment from another user recently.
