A shame the great announcer Harlow Wilcox had passed away a number of years before this broadcast. He was a terrific addition to the Fibber McGee and Molly show and later to the Suspense program. One of the most entertaining pitchmen in the business.

I only recently learned that all of these shows would have been destroyed if it hadnt been for Groucho Marxs grandsons interference. It seems that during the 1970s there was a need to make more space for newer shows and so these shows were meant to be destroyed to clear space. If it wasnt for a warehouse man who called to Groucho Marx whos grandson answered the phone instead. All of the 500 boxes of taped materials would have been lost. There is a very interesting article on the internet about this matter written by Groucho Marxs grandson.

This is an awful "explanation" which will make for an awful "story", but I can't help but to tear up as I long so much for that era and that time in our history when integrity and people owning their circumstances was so important. Somewhere in that poorly-framed "picture" is what *all* of us now miss, as well..... at least, I hope so.

The man visiting the US was Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi. He was in fact the actual Shah even though the Iranian man refers to him as the son of the Shah. That is the man who was overthrown in the Iranian revolution.

The prince was born too early. He could easily have been the star of a TV sitcom in the 1970s.

How many times will it take to admire and welcome Latinos like the El Salvador’s son? An earlier revolution in Central America. Wake up white America (I’m white also!). Hispanics are proud inhabitants of North America contributing to our national culture in so many ways. We are all immigrants except for the indigenous tribal nations.

I was lucky enough to see Bob Hope in person, performing at age 74. Half the audience were college kids like me and my date. Lansing MI 1978 in January . a snowstorm was going on. When Bob walked out on stage, the crowd roared. Snowing outside, the first thing out of his mouth was "We landed in Detroit, and skidded 80 miles all the way to Lansing." He really knew how to win over a crowd coming out of the dressing room. How he got that many people into his dressing room I don't know. Amid the jokes, he could still do a damn good soft shoe. His jokes were up to date, current events, and some old tried and true gags as well. I'll never forget that night as long as I live. Here's this comedy icon who entertained the troops at Christmas Time right up to the end. And he bothered to come to Lansing MI to entertain us.
