I totally understand why people don’t wanna have kids these days. The economy is horrible. It seems most people don’t have the money to bring kids onto this world. Then there are so many people bringing kids into the world that can’t take care of them properly, financially that the rest of us are having to do it.

@Bill-g7d 1971 Nixon admin got rid of the gold standard. Dollar was no longer backed by gold, so inflation went crazy since then. The USD has lost almost all of its buying power. That's one part of the equation. Banksters (The Fed) have been destroying the USD since 1913

But in order for the wealthy to keep their advantage over the population, employees need to be easily replaced. That doesn't happen when competition for jobs is less, due to less people looking for employment. So the only people benefiting from a higher birth rate, are corporations and governments that suck every last penny out of them. And they all talk like we don't have a clue what the REAL problem is.

Good that some heard him, otherwise we would be in deeper trouble. He insist they were not predictions, but scenarios. Also true that fertility rates have been falling, fortunately and that we will peak by mid-century or so and then have a declining population from then on. Don't know if it will be fast enough to overcome ecological overshoot. In any case we should consume less, specially in countries used to using enourmous amounts of fuel. By the way dwindling fossil fuel availability will be a thing that will make economic growth no longer possible, so the fewer we are voluntarily, the better...the downward population trend is apparently unstoppable, but we have plenty to solve anyway if we want a decent future.

Our border problems and immigration system need lots of improvement. Immigrants and migrants are needed, and our country has been benefitting from the diversity of cultures for centuries, but the system needs to prioritize who is legally able to come into the US. Maybe first priority should be given to immigrants who will add to the economy, raise families, and live here permanently. In contrast migrants should be prioritized differently. System overhaul is needed urgently. Very important ideas and knowledge from you, Rosie; am looking forward to more.

When H1B visas give immigrants the jobs Americans put themselves in tens of thousands of dollars in college debt for, it's more than a 'border' or 'immigration' problem. It's corporations who get tax breaks and corporate welfare that are the problem. Easy fix: If they don't have 75% of their workforce American citizens, no tax breaks, corporate welfare or government contracts for you.
