I left my phone on record in my house when I had an open house, because I HATED the idea of people stealing things or doing something dirty with my private things. It gave me peace of mind. And I heard a lot of opinions, like that my fridge had a lot of food (they just had to peek).

I would absolutely never allow strangers in my home without having a camera system set up to monitor and record what happened while I wasn't there. It's honestly weird to me that anyone assumes they aren't be recorded while in a stranger's house.

@@heidic527 Yes, why do we think all tradespeople and would-be buyers are 100% trustworthy, to be left alone in our house that we keep LOCKED. My mother's engagement ring went missing forever, in the 1980s, after she let a plumber and his teenage daughter work in her ensuite bathroom for a day. She couldn't prove a thing.

I record all the HOA meetings after the board president stated huge lies. They hate when I record each meeting which last about an hour. After awhile they completely forget that its being recorded and start with the BS & Lies without realizing the lies are being caught on tape!

My first thought as a seller is that I want to know what the buyers are thinking about my place. However, you are totally correct that you will most likely hear things that will totally tick you off. My husband is definitely not able to handle it. As a buyer, I will now watch what is said when I walk through houses. Now that I think about it, if buyers are now careful of what they are saying then the cameras are useless except for security.
@evelynmayah36702 ай бұрын
@@CandaVinson visible cameras are there for security. If you want to get people's opinions put out questionnaires to be filled out as they walk through.

Here is the thing - it is 😊 FEDERAL offense to record a conversation without persons consent and there are heavy fines that come with it. There once was a court case and the sellers were sued and lost BIG Time. Always let your clients know ! And yes be discreet when in a home - best to not step in the mud ton begin with.

Just sold our vacation home. Would have loved to hear what prospective buyers said about the house. We bought the house from the original owners, and didn’t do much renovations. Very dated but serviceable so always went there to relax.

When I toured the house I ended up buying, the seller didn't leave!! She was there and walked through with me and my realtor. It was so uncomfortable.

I was an appraiser for 23 years, I always assumed I was on camera or being watched. I was mindful to not look at pictures on the wall or make comments about details etc. I tried to be all business, all the time. I suppose an open house is a bit different because you need to have conversations about likes and dislikes. Cameras in a home are sort of uncomfortable but I understand why an owner places them out.

I have a camera system because we have had a break in. So I did have 30 seconds recordings. When I go to open houses, I am very aware of what I say. Negotiation is on!

I guess I can understand someone wanting camera with strangers walking through their home, but then to say something about it is weird. I think, especially during these walk-throughs, there should be signs up, or the agents should be made aware.
@malindarayallen2 ай бұрын
I can see it from both perspectives. People are walking through your house, and that can feel unsafe. At the same time, who wants to be secretly recorded. People should clearly post that there are cameras on the premises. Like at any store. That way it's all above board.

Plumber here. I assume somebody is watching listening and recording me from the second I pull in the driveway until I am back on the highway. Driveways, outer house perimeters and inside I always assume there are cameras with sound watching me. I even refuse to use customer bathrooms because I assume they have cameras in there. Anxiety.
@katrianem21242 ай бұрын
I think it’s an invasion of privacy. Warn the viewers so they know to keep quiet until they’ve left. Extra frustrating considering how subjective house buying is and yet someone watching viewers on a camera could increase or decrease the price by £10k or more.

Voyeurism Plain and simple, undeclared by the seller it's voyeurism, because I have a reasonable expectation of privacy inside a home. And I know Wyoming is a one party consent to record state, but the homeowner is not present, so they are not able to give that one party of consent. The buyers are not aware to be able to give consent, so it's voyeurism.
