Back in the day I got 3x the dwarf half of the Battle for Skull Pass set, so I have 3 thanes, 3 cannons, 3 dwarf ponies, 3 slayers and a joblot of thunderers + warriors. At the same time I got 11 hammerers, 10 ironbreakers, Belegar, and 19 warriors with great weapons. Slowly rebasing everything onto 25m squares to use in Old World! PUMP THOSE DWARFEN LEGS

As a new Dwarf Player, I’m stoked to see this as a possible build for the Grand Army and I’ll probably try running it in the future with the idea of growing it into the Royal Clan since that one is really drawing me in especially since I like Ungrim

Love seeing a video like this! I wish they would do an updated plastic version of the Anvil of Doom... I know a lot of people love the old metal model but metal models are tricky and I think parts of it look very dated. Definitely appreciate someone mentioning building a list without it.

Second comment, but your video must've digested in my mind while I slept. Dropping 3 or 4 rangers from the list to include 5 quarrellers or 6 thunderers(or quarrelers with shields) for the second thane to join should allow the dwarf engineer to confer his Artillery Master rule to the entire unit. You'd lose the benefit of him being a lone character, but he would be absolutely beastly and do people win games by playing it safe? I suppose in a tournament list you could choose whether or not to have him join the unit during deployment based on who you're facing. edit - And you could add the runesmith for the forgefire rule to give him armour bane (3) on the handgun. Yikes!

No limit on the amount of comments you're allowed to leave! I don't think I want the Thane in a unit, when you're in a small unit you're arguably less safe from shooting due to how hits are allocated with units of 5 models or less (and losing look out sir) than you are if you just use Lone Character protection nearby a unit

Wow. I didn't know how versatile this box is, being able to really start all 3 Dwarf flavors pretty well. AND just throwing the parts into list builder and taking a lot of enhancements I don't understand as a new player, it nearly gets up to 1k points! Damn, ugh, I think I'm going to buy it and finally embrace my destiny after probably 500 hours combined of Deep Rock Galactic and Bardin in Vermintide.

Interesting. I am just starting with The Old World and Dwarfs and i am surprised that almost everyone is throwing around with great weapons. Great Weapons on Rangers, great weapons on warriors, great weapons on characters. Am i missing something here? I played WHFB a long time ago and i cant remember that dwarfs had that many gerat weapons back then. Wee, i bought the bataillon and build a few dwarfs already - and i have build them wrong as is seems. i went for 10 Tunderers and 10 Warrios with sield right now. But at least i still have enought models left to build the rest of them as warriors with great weapons and quarrelers / rangers.

I would run Warriors with Shields AND great weapons, so mixing them in a unit is absolutely fine and representative of how they are equipped. Great weapons are good, because you're almost never getting the charge - so you're fighting last anyway. May as well use the best weapon for the job in that case!

Thanks. Yeah, i figure that i could mix a few warriors with hand weapons and shields in the unit. I could put the great weapon from the ranged sprue on their back, cause they keep the hand weapon anyway. And there might be instances where you could go for hw/sh instead of the gws...

I'm commenting on this late, sorry buddy. But I don't think you can build anything wrong, Warriors with shields and hand weapons are fine in casual games and you get more use out of the shields because you can use them in combat, making the unit a lot more durable. If you're looking for a static res block they might be the way to go. The best reason to build and paint any fantasy unit is that you like them, and having options is always good. Also loads of people tradionally hate playing dwarfs, sometimes it's nice to build softer lists for closer games against some of the weaker factions. My warriors only have great weapons, I brought them off ebay when they killed fantasy and I've aways wanted the hand and shield option, I'm so happy now I have them.

Most people tend to be running 3 units of 5 Irondrakes, each with just a captain+torpedo. They function basically as warmachines. Interesting to see someone wanting to try larger units. A video showing a royal clan list would be great as well!

I really rate the larger units, Richy plays them a lot so I've been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty Stand & Shoot reactions!

The thing I don't like with the Old World is that it's getting limited runs on both the reference cards and the limited availability miniatures which tend to be in The Arcane Journal etc. For the reference cards (ok I managed to get hold of some on Ebay at rip off price), I could even print them out (I would buy any old reference cards and stick labels over them for the card tuck box and cards) BUT for the minis that you 'missed out on' is it proxy time ? or more rip off ebay prices ?

I don't think any minis have been removed from sale? GW are just struggling a lot with stock at the moment, in my country there's a huge amount missing.

There isn't a good start collecting type box for Nomadic Waaagh! unfortunately - my advice would be mostly just buy Boar Boys and Wolf Riders plus characters - not a huge amount of complexity there, but they're quite well priced boxes for the number of models you get

BSB, or Battle Standard Bearer - the kit doesn't come with a Standard for some reason, despite all of the other Foot/Mounted boxes doing so

The grudge thrower purpose is to put ranged pressure on an opponent - but you could comfortably replace them with plenty of things, more infantry to play more aggressively forward, Gyrocopters for some faster reach etc etc

In the modern models, yes - but when those dwarf warriors were released originally they were a combo warrior/Longbeard box!

As CloseOrder states, when these plastic warriors were released in 7th (actually right at the end of 6th)they were sold as a dual warrior/longbeard kit - check out the dwarf 6.5/7th edition army book, they are pictured and labelled as longbeards! This was before the plastic longbeards/hammerers kit released in 8th.
