sandy k sure I could assist you a bit! What kind of tips are you looking for? As far as general tips, I'd say Airbnb in Japan was a life saver, it's super important to book a place close to the railway system and the trains, most hotels within walking distance of these places are very expensive so Airbnb was a life saver. We ended up paying like $60 usd a night to be right in the middle of Tokyo, it was amazing. We didn't stay there long though opting to go to Kyoto for the countryside and we found accommodation there for about $27 usd nightly which is how we got away with staying so long. The bus system is your friend in Japan (though not so much in Tokyo) and you can get anywhere in Kyoto for $2.30 or $5 daily for unlimited rides anywhere the bus will take you in Kyoto! That means you can see multiple shrines and attractions in one day without spending more than $5 usd daily. It's really unbelievable what you get in the public transit. As far as buying airfare we bought our tickets in the USA leaving from Detroit MI November 4th and they were $555 a person ROUND TRIP. The best time to look to buy is September, but to purchase for November. So 2 months in advance. I hope I helped! Feel free to ask me anything else though if you're interested!

sandy k there are a lot of people who speak English in Japan, and it shouldn't be a problem for you at all! My boyfriend never had a problem with anything and there are tons of English signs. As far as Tokyo goes, I really love the asakusa area, it's historic with tons of shrines and shopping. It's beautiful too. And of course there's Shinjuku, the entertainment is over the top. Google Shinjuku robot restaurant and you'll see what I mean lol. And as far as Kyoto goes my favorite shrine was fushimi inari. It's in my opinion the most beautiful shrine in Japan that I've seen. Arashiyama is also beautiful, and the classic visit to kinkakuji and Ginkaku-ji is also a must.

free walking tours are a MUST DO! 😄 In my travels I do almost all free things except for the must do things in the cities. Also cooking in hostels saves you sooooo much money! I hardly ever eat out when im travelling!

China's bullet train system is super cheap too! One way from Shanghai to Beijing is about $100CAD for a 5 hour trip, and when I went to Suzhou from Shanghai it was a $5 30 minute trip (regularly 4 hours by car). China in general is suuuuper cheap and there's so many amazing sights to see - I was just there for a month and I definitely recommend it! Pretty nice hotels run for $30-$60 a night too, so you can get the cheap motels for even cheaper and hostels for $6 a night.

I disagree with cooking your own food. We travel to experience the culture and a lot of that has to do with the food, the flavours etc. Save up for food. Even if u just eating once a day from a food market or something

Really great video, Nadine! Do you have advice for someone who doesnt' drink alcohol but still wants to join friends in night outs when travelling or when you meet some people on your trip and someone suggests drinks? I always end up spending a lot on accommodation as I can't share rooms as I need pure pitch dark silence to sleep, so always end up paying the extra for hotels. I do try to save where possible by going for cheaper 3 star hotels that include breakfast. I am from the UK so th pound stretches pretty well, really recommend travel top cards in countries like Japan, Dublin, and using an Oyster in London

Also transportation may be more expensive in some countries than others, for example to me it's really expensive to move around Dallas or Houston in Uber while in Tokyo and more cities from Japan it's very cheap using the JR pass and the subway :)

Pro tip: bring a pillowcase from home if you're staying in a hostel/airbnb. You can put it over your pillow if it's kinda dirty or use it as a dirty laundry bag.

Something I learned a long time ago. If you are in a place with lots of restaurants catering for tourists, they can be quite expensive. However every area has local workers who can't afford those prices, and often you can find restaurants tucked away up alleys where those locals eat and the prices are far lower.

Curency exchange are not to be avoided in europe many of them offer better exchange rates than the bank ... but check the exchange rate and ask before exchanging if any hidden fees are involved etc etc

Not sure where you're from but the exchange rate of euros lies very close to the US dollar. The less touristic countries like Czech, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia etc. are pretty cheap. However, France, Belgium, Germany and especially the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland will cost you a lot more.

I;m an European from Easter Europe (so not rich) i travel and seen europe almost all of it for like 30-40 euros/day budget in Europe there are low cost airlines like RyanAir (my fav) or EassyJet + busses are cheap services like getbybus help a ton hostels are literaly evrywhere and quite cheap exept like peak season and popular destinations like Paris/Switzerlan/Norway/Danmark etc so 50 dolars/day is planty for a ok vacation i;ve met americans like being on a budget for 200 dolars/day that's pure stupidity ...

17:25 minutes is too long even if I really need the advise... It would be better with 3 á 5 minutes videos. Part one could be the travel. Part two could be how to find cheap places to stay and so on. I am one of the people who watched the video you deleted not so long ago. And I love you but you got to keep the videos a lot shorter. It's just too much even if it's really good stuff you are saying. You still get a thumbs up
