I am glad to help. Just remember it is Karnak 81 or 66 Trowel Grade. Home Depot only sell the Brush Grade unfortunately. If you try Beacon Building Supply or ABC Building Supply in your area, they might have the product. Cheers

@@FlatRoofDoctor what about Karnak 19? We typically use that and only apply it with a trowel, but it doesn’t specifically state trowel grade. No way that stuff can be brushed on

Hello, thank you for showing us how to do all of this. I plan t do the Modified Bitumen Torch over tar and gravel next summer; the one item I am unsure about is how to terminate over the edge of a stucco parapet. There is no metal drip edge, what is the best way to seal the edge of the two layers on top of the stucco parapet? Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Some different techniques to how we do it here in the UK but if it works it works, I guess. The quality of your mineral felt looks great. I do hate having to use crappy torch on felt. Wouldn’t it be great if every job was a four sided free standing building? In the pub by lunchtime.

Great to see im a torch on roofer in uk i use roll bar and walk on it, its quicker and safer
@neilkennykenny41132 жыл бұрын
100% agree 👍 it's safer in that there's less chance of walking off the edge of the roof, some roofers won't walk on the felt in case they leave foot prints, but if the correct heat is used no footprints will accure.

@Imthatdude88192 жыл бұрын
This is some real hack stuff. First of all I would of ripped the whole roof. Your whole new roof is relying on peel and stick. You have a leak and it goes under that peel and stick, first wind storm its blowing right off. It's called using asphalt primer. I see you've never done warranty work. If a manufacturer seen us put down some roofer in a can as a permanent roof. They would make us rip the whole roof off again. For very good reason....it doesn't last. It's a temporary solution.

The so called plastic, as he calls it is just a small film that comes as its being produced . no need to pull it off. It is so thing it melts away with the heat you apply.

Probably answering my own question on a epdm/fiberboard/pea gravel flat roof and the fiberboard has gotten saturated and the hold downs have rusted and backed off in places. Short term fix is to use the Super Silicone seal/polyester before the next storm on every gap and tear. Other than replacing all the EPDM and fiberboard (and re-establishing some more slope with pea gravel) anything else that can be done long term?

Ok I was just watching this video --- (4030) U.S. PLY How to - Torch Application Techniques - KZbin , and he says the temperature needs to be be above 45 degrees F. And you are making it work at 28 degrees F. So you are using a different product, or more likely you just know how to make it work at colder temperatures. I was about to give up since winter is fast approaching but now I might be able to do a torch down roof in cold weather since you can do it. There is a Roofing Supply not too far from me. So do I just tell them what I am putting down and see what they have in stock? Can I just use the nail down base compatible with the Modified Bitumen and then the Modified Bitumen cap sheet? Or would it be better to use a 2 layer system. Of course the middle layer would have no granules on it. I think you said Magnum torches and Raptor Express torch for details. You could be an Amazon seller and make some money.
@roryb30132 жыл бұрын
If your using torch on you can torch below 0c no idea what that is in Fahrenheit. Use a 3mm underlay and a 4.5 cap sheet but don’t lap them like he did in this video use a full sheet underlay and cut a roll of cap sheet down the middle to separate lap on lap
@shawncummings4653 Жыл бұрын

Or make more work for me, for no extra cost. The existing metal was not completely clean, and to remove the EPDM, Clean it with Lacquer Thinners, is way more time consuming, that in turn will cost the customer more.
