Here's what I would've done. Adam was told the heartbreaking news about his child's death and comforts Hannah. Meanwhile, Claire didn't want her son mainly due to her husband, Jason's demands for an heir. She had made it clear she didn't want a family, but he didn't care, threatening to divorce her and leave her with nothing if she didn't follow through with the pregnancy. Nurse: I don't know what to do. Hannah: I lost my child, but my husband and I discussed what our next move is. Adam: We decided to adopt the boy. No child should ever suffer the mistakes of his own mom. Nurse: Very well. I'll hand you two some paperwork to sign. With all that said and done, Adam and Hannah take Donnie home. Claire is happy because now her life is going to resume as normal. That is until she comes home to her angry husband. Jason: What have you done, Claire?! You gave our son up for adoption. Claire: I had to. I told you several times I wasn't ready to settle down and have a family. You kept shutting me down and threatening to divorce me. Jason: I can't believe you! Jason: You had 15 years to do that and you wasted them. I could've forgiven you for a lot of things, but betrayal and child abandonment aren't one of them. Sofia: You're too late. He's moved on and is happy in his life. Take this and leave. Sofia tosses wadded dollar bills on the ground and slams the door. Claire is seen crying in regret because she realized too late how much she's ruined her own life with her selfishness. Donnie wanted nothing to do with her and Jason doesn't need her.
