In this video I make an upholstered corner bench with some hidden storage. All without a sewing machine. This bench is replacing a sleeper couch in our newly renovated camper! Check out the camper video here:

Nice video and build. 2x2 lumber is under utilized in the diy world. Nice solution to the corner. Mahalo for sharing! : )

Inside corners are tough, equating that to flashing a window opening was a pretty good approach to a tricky problem.

Hi, if a track saw is not in the budget, you can make a nice and accurate one out of ½ inch plywood, there are lots of them on KZbin and then all you need is a circular saw and you make the track fit the saw. Nice catch on the corner, it looks very professional

I think we spent almost $600 having an upholstery shop re-cover the 4 cushions for the dinette in our camper so this project seems like a huge cost savings in comparison.

Definitely a great save on the inside corner. There is stuff called "fabric glue" which would be better for seams, but the 77 adhesive likely is good for the application

My first upholstery DIY home project was much worse than yours. After 10 or so seat cushions and chair seats, it started to make sense and I got much better. I admire the work of good upholsters. They make it look easy. (And the power stapler is a must-have. Electric, air or battery. Doesn't matter which type. A few hundred staples and your hands will thank you.)

Absolutely, pneumatic staplers are cheap and they really drive the staples in deep and you can do 10 in the time it takes to do 1 by hand.

Instead of a track saw, I've used straight edges and either screwed or clamped them down as guides :)

Here's an old man tip you'll appreciate in a coupla decades: IMMEDIATELY on starting install or other work where you might drop on a knee, 1st thing before ANY work: strap on knee pads. $20 gets U good non marring 2-strap knee pads, u should have 3 or 4 sets unless all u'r work is in the shop (then 1 set). You'll find dropping to a knee becomes easy & fast and by the time u'r 60 you'll be way ahead of all the tough guys who thought pads were sissy stuff & now they're knees are barking.

So, you made the cushion non-washable. Once it starts getting dirty, it's gonna look gross until you re-upholster the whole thing again.
