In our West Bengal our current year is 1430, it is also used in Assam and Tripura. The calendar was introduced by Emperor Shashanka of Gauda. The rise of Shashanka from a Samanta Raja to the sovereign ruler of Bengal coincides with that of the beginning of the Bangabda.

it is unfortunate that Indian government still not using and Indian origin calendar(i.e Vikram Samvat) instead of this they are still using a calendar(saka calendar) which belongs to the farsi origin(saka tribe, now days iran then persia or faras). saka calender is 78years new than Gregorian calendar while Vikram Samvat is 57years older than gregorian; as of now this is year 2080(according to vikaram samvat) and 2024 (according to gregorian calendar) and 1944(according to saka calendar). A Hard and brutal fact nepal a hindu country still uses vikram samvat despite the vikram samvat was given by samrat vikram aditya of ujjain(madhya pradesh, india) and our own indian goverment still using a saka calender which is of iran(faras or saka)origin

Though the year 0 of Gregorian calender is 2000 year old from today, the calender itself is invented only 1500 year before from today. It means SAKA calendar is older than islamic, gregorian & chinese calender. It indicates that calender system first invented in Bharat.

Hindu Calander is more accurate. They follow moon positions. Which is accurate way of calculating days and time.

In Nepal we use Bikram Sambhat calender which is hindu calender and our national calender
