The handheld vacuum mode is quite deadly cos the velocity of the sucked in gems is so high it can oftentimes cause serious injury. Instead just stand next to the pieces, press i and drag and drop them into your inventory, might take a little bit longer than sucking them in but is way safer.

So I found a pack of 15 hadanite rocks on Daymar and have been mining it for almost a week now! I found them, mined them then bed logged in the MSR or Cutlass... Then jumped servers just to find out those rocks persist! When I want to sell I just wrote my bearings down and leave the ROC next to the hadanite and go sell at shubin... Then I just return to the ROC and keep mining predictably forever! I did notice the server was about to 30k while I was mining and managed to bed log just in time!

@@ubermk3 I have around 16k hadanite rocks in my ship right now, and I think every 4k is a million lol.. I only mine 4k a day since Im limited to a few hours a night after work! But I spend about 20 minutes to crack and collect 15 rocks (400ish rocks) and I jump servers around 10 times a night before I give up. I have made a few trips to sell so altogether in the last week Ive made close to 8 million or so off the same 15 rocks lol!

ROC mining was always good. The only problem was 30K before you could make it back. I lost so many hours of ROC mining to 30K’s.

sometimes is a habit to move the gems into the ships inventory once you move your roc into it, so even if you got 30ked, you can just fly to the place it's stored at and retrieve it(not claiming it), and the gems should still be in the ship's inventory

I made 4 mil last night in 3 hours in the PU. Find a juicy group of rocks, mine it, transfer gems into ship, bedlog & change regions, repeat. That same group will always spawn in that spot. If you can take a bearing it's possible to come back to the exact same group.

@Spawn and Batman in my experience bedlogging has been the smoothest way. Less entities to load when you're not in a city. Only time I had an issue in 3.18.2 was a bedlog where I came back in the following night. It put me back home with my ship stored & just had to go find the good rocks again. Bedlogging worked smooth last night in 3.19 too so far.

I havent tried 3.19 yet but in 3.18.2 these deposits are persistent. So if you find a deposit of like 12 rocks note its location (set course for nearest poi and write down the distance and bearing) then you can return to it when it respawns. Sometimes I mine out a 10-12 rock and bedlog right there, log back in and mine it out again. They wont always respawn as hadanite, but it seems to happen most of the time.

Tip for finding gems. They only show up on the scanner at 5k meters and under. Anything above is rocks, anything 1-5k is gems, anything under 1k is hand minables. No math needed 😊

@@HawkesGaming It shouldn’t be 🧐. I’ve been doing Greycat mining all week, and this method is definitely still true. I have yet to run up on a cluster that isn’t gems with this method. Once they show up on your scanner at 5k and under, they’ll continue to scan past 5k of course, but the original scan “should” not be above 5 Edit: I will definitely re check this, just because the original method works I guess doesn’t mean some other clusters show above 5k and I havnt been looking at them. I’ve been getting data for updating my mining and Greycat tutorials. So I’ll give it a gander! But even then, as I’ve been mining with prospector and mole. Ive never seen gems scan above 5k

I'm not really a fan of the extraction beam on the MT, its a good attempt but its just a bit jank, SC is a super duper tactile game, and so using an extraction beam like this would only look right if the mining tool had a dedicated way of passing the gem into ur backpack, its just NMS in the way its being done like this. For hand mining, if they had just fixed the double pickup animation that would have been find for me until the 2H mining tool and dedicated mining armour

They shouldn't nerf the diamond spawns. Im not a roc miner but I think less ship-stacked blokes should have a good money maker with rental/standard layout vehicles. Makes their way to the prosp much smoother and thus a better gameplay Loop.

been mining in 3.19 abit, seems like there's some sort of sweet spot on the gems nodes where if you managed to pinpoint your laser on it, it charges up pretty fast but you have to move the roc arounds the nodes to find that sweet spot as all node have their sweet spots at different angles, and i blew up my roc couple of times already lmao

Aberdeen is best mining spot in Stanton by far, it has highest hadanite density, Arial is second i think and Daymar is third, but Daymar is first in Aphorite density. If CIG didnt change that in 3.19 too.

Whoa the hand mining suck is really awesome. I too have “stowed” many of things. Also ROC mining has been my go to for making starter money for many patches now. I’m curious if the lancet head on the prospector will still pop those gems with 0% power tapping. Me and a few buddies use to power through these doing that method

Over all the prospector will make you more money if you own it. If you rent one although much better now can either be better, equal, or often less depending on the rock size you find / your RNG. It now seems a hell of a way to earn your own prospector and the refining money you need early on once you start prospecting.

I tried this and it does seem like it would be great but I have the absolute hardest time getting the extraction mode (handheld or vehicle) to actually EXTRACT anything. It took me about and hour to pick up maybe 25 hadonite. Multitool or ROC I would just sit or move the laser over the gems and just nothing happened. It eventually picked up some here and there so I didn't leave empty handed but that's not worth it as is. I'm really hoping its just the server desync being stressed from free flight because I really like mining in the game but man it was discouraging.

Took ages to find some last night and most patches I found had 2 or 3 rocks, been on again this morning for an hour and found a couple of 8/9 packs straight away Biggest issue I've found so far with the large clusters is some of the rocks can be hard to crack, it's like the hit boxes are messed up or shit on the ground is interfering with them, you can be in optimal range and even 100% intensity does nothing so need to keep moving around until you find a sweet spot where the charge level starts going up, even then if you twitch the mouse a couple of mm it'll stop working again, sometimes you need to be right on top of them to get the charge going up

I just finished doing a run to help fix the roc bug. It took me maybe 15 minutes to find the 3 patches I needed to fill my roc. The rest of the time was spent mining then going to sell.

I have a bit of a problem getting the collector beam taking gems, does it help spamming it off/on like you do? =) (havent tried it since im waiting for a fix of the bug that cause 30k not to fix restoring the ships as is)

Usually this is due to the server's performance. When i was in servers that 30k'd soon after, it would take 10 / 15 seconds of constant beaming in a spot to get the gems. In smoother servers, only took 2 or 3 seconds before they picked up

had to take a break from sc. 3.17.5 was playable. 3.18.0 / .1 / .2 are all unplayable. someone posted to the spectrum forum the game was in a sad state and i replied just confirming i was seeing the same behavior, and not 1, but 2 CiG moderators sent me a warning that my negativity wouldn't be tolerated... so i stopped playing in favor of other great games that aren't so buggy.
