The insane thing is also the timeline of s2. All of this is legit happening on the day and the day after Annie was found out to be a titan. At the start of s2 we jumped back 12 hours after any was captured, meaning while they were fighting Annie, all of this with the titan inside the walls and the search for the hole. Imagine how fucked up this situation is. Not even a few weeks ago nobody even knew humans can be titans, and now they found out 2 traitors and 2 other people who can transform.

In S1E16 where the main characters decided to join survey corps, Erwin intentionally emphasized the low survival rate, announced the information of Eren’s key, and scanned the crowd in order to entice the “enemy” to join the survey corps and minimize the number of innocent scouts to join. He also created the plan of their expedition in S1 and gave everyone different information in order to find the traitor(s). That’s all because of genius Erwin.

Here's the really crazy thing. You can go back watch season 1-2 again and ALL the hints are there. I'm normally skeptical when someone claims the author has planned everything in advance, because you can't plan out everything, but in this case the amount of setup is crazy. - When Berthold tells the story about how their village got attacked in ep3, Reiner looks confused and ask why he's telling that story - Annie is distraught and apologizes to Marco when his corpse is found - During the battle of Trost, those three are ALWAYS together. As soon as Eren's titan revealed, they suggest that they should capture it instead of letting it die. Also when they see the tightning of Eren transforming to save her friends in ep9, Reiner clearly recognizes it. - Reiner talks Connie out of believing her mom's become a titan TWICE. And when the tower is about to fall in ep4, you can see Berthold preparing to bite his hand.
