8 years late but yes, they can drown. Plug up that drain and you’ll see it dead eventually. Had an empty toilet paper roll and sank it to the bottom and the spider crawled around on it and I came back a couple hours later and it stopped moving and has been in an upside down position in the same spot for 2 weeks.

Spiders get like a friction thing so if u try drowning it it won't because There's like a bubble which prevents them from drowning.

It wasn't dead I can assure you of that. It was either pretending to be dead, or it entered a special "coma" that spiders enter to avoid drowning

Responding to a 5 year old comment but he’s right they can drown, unless that spider I have in my sink has been playing dead in the same upside down position for the past couple weeks I’d say it’s pretty dead.

Dude they fight a lot they actually do drown , I like to put them in a plastic bag and make them suffer until they die , also I put them in water and there air bubbles come out
