It's so upsetting to hear not-Jake's points, knowing that I have had and will continue to have students with parents like this. There's a reason I've had students who consider socially transitioning terrified at the thought of their parents knowing; there's often no real way of reaching through the inflexibility of the parents' thinking. There are many social animal species where certain individuals will sacrifice their own reproduction for the sake of others. With 8 billion people on this planet, it's not vital to survival for everyone to be reproducing all the time, and with humans nearing the carrying capacity of the environment, it may actually be beneficial to reproduce less. Reproduction involves a huge investment in time and energy, after all, which could be better spent performing other tasks necessary to survival of the group. We see this in hundreds of other animal species, where homosexual couples will adopt the orphaned or abandoned offspring that would otherwise not survive. Therefore, I think it's okay to allow there to be people, of any gender, who do something with their lives other than producing kids.
